Worst excuse for a snowboarding game ever.

I have played a lot of games like this. The Tony Hawk franchise for instance. The only difference is the Tony Hawk games are good. The controls really are terrible. This game just wasn't meant for the Wii. The story is less exciting than watching grass grow. Back to the controls. The one thing I hate the most about the ssx games is when you chrouch down to jump, the stearing tightens up so badly. This game could have been great on another system, but on the Wii it just doesn't work. The only reason it got a 0.5 is the graphics aren't bad. If you want a good snowboarding game, buy amped 3.
In the category of frustration this deserves a 5.

Never in my life have I played a game that features controls so atrocious that detract from the experience like this game does. Imagine drinking a bottle of whiskey, then driving a car while being blindfolded. That is how sloppy the controls are. Even after two months I didn't get used to the controls; if anything I may have gotten worse. The fun, if any, is very minimal and even the most hardcore SSX fans would not enjoy this game.
4 out of 5

If i could rate this game, I would give it a 4. Sure the controls are hard and somewhat strange, but it adds complexity to the game and makes it so that even pros who waste their life on this game can still mess up on a huge trick! That wasn't present in the previous ones, if you were a pro at it, you knew how to play.
Great if you consider frustrating a great thing.

I'm a big SSX fan so I bought this as an impulse. Boy, I wish I read the GamePro review. The first hour of gameplay I experienced were nothing but bails and faceplants becuase of unreponsive controls. Second hour: Ends up last in the first race for way too many times due to controls. Third hour: completely gives up from frustration. The horrible controls aren't the only thing bad. Getting to a race is a pain since you can't just access a race from a menu. The overworld is a complete mess. It is a shame that the control completely hinders the gameplay because the graphics are stylish and the music is so good I think I may play one of the tracks at my wedding. The only ones who might marginally enjoy SSX Blur are the hardcore fans and I think even then they will find the faults within this game.
More fun than it's given credit.

After playing this game for a while, I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that playing this game is a lot like a complex version of patting your head and rubbing your stomach. It requires a bit more finesse than say Twilight Princess. Some find it more frustrating than others. Good news: if you can take the time and patience to get comfortable with the controls, this is the most enjoyable SSX game to date, and I say that having owned them all from Tricky on. The controls took a couple of hours to really get down, but there are some helpful pointers. 1) do the training, it's worth every second you spend there. 2) Spin first, then grab. After that, you can change your spin while still grabbing. 3) Under the pause/+ menu, there is an "Ubertricks" menu item. Check it out, you can cycle through the tricks and try out the motions without having to learn through the normal gameplay. This is extremely helpful. So, if you can weather the storm that is the learning curve, this game is imensly fun. And I'm guessing that's the problem with some of the "panned" reviews, they just didn't give it time and patients.

Review:
SSX Blur
When will developers learn that just because you can design a funky control scheme around the Wii Remote, it doesn't mean you should? SSX Blur could have been a decent ride, but its cumbersome control scheme dooms it to an arctic hell.
