Story is it's saving grace
FF:VII is my favorite game of all time. This is the game that cam next, and it's a good RPG no doubt, but it plays alot slower and is encumbered by an annoyingly over complex junction system that tramples the fun.
Story: Good stuff like always. Squall goes to the Garden Academy where he is training to be a great soldier. During this time, an evil sorceress is out to condense time! Squall gets tangled up in this conflict and he and his companions must put a stop to this evil!
Graphics: A nice upgrade from FF: VII, though, not as fun looking. The game has a boring look, and of course it it highly outdated.
Sound: Amazing music as you would always expect from an FF game.
Gameplay:Her is my big complaint. The game drags on super slow, and to make matters worse, Square decided to create a super complex juntioning system to assign magic and abilities. It ruins the fun. Also, instead of having MP, you have to draw spells from monsters and you just have a numerical representation of those spells. It is very flawed...and leads to the game's downfall.
Overall: The story will keep anyone going, but it isn't nearly as fun a ride as you'd like.

Review:
Final Fantasy VIII
Once in a very long while a game comes along and pushes the capabilities of a home gaming console beyond everything that has come before. Even more surprising is when that game is on the oldest console that still has a heartbeat, the Sony PlayStation. It's not surprising however that this game is Squaresoft's highly anticipated, epic new RPG Final Fantasy VIII.
