JOIN THE RESISTANCE 2-DAY

I am a big fan of the first game. It is one of the reasons for my PS3 purchase. This game takes it a step further with the graphics and the massive scale of the boss fights. One drawback is the removal of the "weapons wheel" from the first game. Being a fan of the Ratchet & Clank series, I found this to be a great asset in a FPS. I also think the story was some how shortened or condensed to make room for the massive 60 player online. I enjoyed this game greatly and will be keeping it in my collection forever.

Almost Perfect.

Resistance 2 would have been perfect, if not for a few minor disappointments.
These disappointments were: it was short, the story wasn't great, and they took out campaign cooperative gameplay. Other than this, it was great, it had amazing graphics, it was very detailed (the skin textures on the chimera were amazing, and your bullets left holes, boxes on shelves had labels),there was a very wide variety of enemies, there were creative weapons, such as the auger, which could shoot through walls, the splicer, which shot ricocheting red-hot razor blades at your enemies, severing their limbs, and bullseye, which could shoot a "tag" onto an enemy, and all of your shots would go towards that tag, letting you shoot from behind cover. It also had great bosses, such as the leviathan, a 300 foot tall chimera that throws you through a building and into another, after you fire a few rockets in its mouth, and the cracken, a creature which you fight on a floating platform next to the golden gate bridge. Overall it was a very well done game and it is obvious that a lot of time was put into it.

Resistance 2

GREAT Game one of the PS3 finest however I would've like that there would've been more animations on the enemies as they died (specially larger enemies).

Simply Amazing.

This game was nothing short of amazing. It had great visuals. Not only was the skin textures great, there was amazing lighting, good blood and gore and your bullets left holes. It had very epic boss fights, such as the leviathan (a one thousand foot tall chimera) which picks you up and hurls you through a building and into another after you fire a rocket into its mouth, at which point it starts destroying the building you are in, and the cracken, which you fight on a floating platform next to the golden gate bridge. It had creative weapons, such as the bullseye, which you could fire a "tag" which would make all of your bullets seek whatever you hit, the Auger, which can shoot through walls, and the splicer which throws spinning red hot razor blades, which proceed to ricochet of walls and tear the limbs of your enemies.

You could tell that the makers of the game spent a lot of time on the game because of all of the detail in the stages. The shelves were full of labeled cereal boxes and there were posters for movies on the walls. I also liked the variety of enemies. there were the normal chimera, titans, which were chimera of approximately 30 feet, ravagers, which were somewhere between the size of a normal chimera and a titan, the grim, which were basically the zombies of resistance, and a lot of machines. The only disappointing thing about the game was the ending boss fight. The first section was him ripping apart the pods you were in while trying to grab you, but all you had to do here was sit in a corner and then run to the other corner and he couldn't get you. Then, when you actually got to fight him it was way to easy. You just had to run away until he was next to some electrical thing and shoot it so it would electrocute him and then repeat that about three times.

Resistance 2 is a game all about numbers. In this quirky but enjoyable PlayStation 3 shooter, you'll take on a 300 foot-tall Leviathan in the single-player campaign, blast countless hordes in the eight-player cooperative mode, and shoot it out with 60 players in online competitive matches. These three modes -- campaign, cooperative, and competitive -- embody the entirety of the Resistance 2 experience, and to see the big picture you'll have to play them all.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Bigger, badder and better than the first, Resistance 2 improves upon the formula set by its predecessor in almost every way. Unfortunately, a handful of minor issues, such as less than stellar graphics, keep this game from reaching the high bar set by competing titles like Call of Duty 4 and Gears of War 2. Still, with its interesting single-player campaign and robust online component, Resistance 2 has plenty to offer any PS3 owner looking for a quick and easy shooter fix.
