A new bag of tricks

for years now tony hawk games have dominated the industry of sport's video games. As a huge fan of skate boarding and a boarder myself i take great pride in saying that we have a more "realistic" skate boarding game on are hands. Now don't get me wrong Tony Hawk games are load's of fun but at times it can feel bland and repetetive. That's where skate comes in, skate is a REAL skateboarding simulator this is the real deal for people who want the most realistic skating sim that they can find. Skate has a controll sceme called
"flick it" moves. So instead of easily pressing "x" "square" "left" (as used in tony hawk games) skate has you using the right analog stick to preform all the basic flip tricks. For example, if you want to ollie all you have to do is hold the right analog stick down and then "flick" it up and just like the real thing your character will do an ollie. Skate also boast's a spectacular earay of painfully realistic whipeouts. Theres nothing more satisfying in skate than seeing your character do a small fall than fall down a rivein landing on his head with a bunch of goretastic sounds following him. The multiplayer also work's very well with the game. So all skateboarding fans out there go out and buy yourself a copy of skate already and enjoy!

S-K-A-T-E

I was actually really impressed with this game i didnt think it would be that good but i was wrong. The graphics were very good really shows the power of the PS3.But the controls take time to get us to to but hey change is good.I liked how they really focused the camera on the board instead of the skater.Overall if you have a PS3 and like skateboarding give THPS a break and try something new.

Differant type of skating game

Ok so you are looking for something differant that Tony Hawk? Well Skate it is. The game tries to take a more realistic aproach to this genra of game, making it more like a skating sim than a skating game. The way you control and do tricks with the analog sticks as apposed to using button combos to pull off tricks helps to achieve this. The controls are good though they will take a bit of getting used to, the tutorial helps. Once you get the control system down you will be able to pull of tricks with ease.

The game looks nice, I think it looks better than the Tony Hawk counterpart. The character model is good and the animations are decent. The backgrounds are also done nicely. It isnt the best looking game out there but it is the best looking skating game out there.

The 360 version is clearly the better looking version. On the PS3 you can tell that low res textures have been used in the backgrounds in the distance. It doesnt detract from the gameplay but I expect more from the next gen systems. 360=4.5 PS3=4 Play the demos and check it out. the game is pretty fun.

NEw age of skateboarding

I feel that skate brings a new level of control and feel to the skateboarding game. Instead of little lines that show your balance you can just look at the board and see where you are. Another improvement over tony hawk is the grinding system. Which ever way your board hits the grind is the grind you do. All in all this game feels more intuitive and feels better than tony hawk.

SKATE

Okay, to start off skate in all is not a bad game, it makes you challenge yourself to perfect your tricks. Skate introduces a new mechanic called Flick-It. Basically you do all your tricks within the right analog stick, for example if you want to ollie you bring the analog stick down and then flick it up. Although the flick-it is pretty neat the story line is not all that great. You start out as a no body and work your way up to getting sponsored and choosing who you want to be sponsered by. You do video challenges and you can even do replays and save them, so if you landed a once in a life time trick then you go to replay editor and save it. You can even change the camera angles and choose how fast you want it to go. Skate is a game to buy if you really want a challenge. If your still not sure about it then download the demo at Xbox live or Playstation store. ~God120

EA's stab at a skating videogame is enjoyable, addictive and may end up giving Mr. Hawk a run for his money. There's no denying the similarities between the two, but they're only skin deep. Skate's gameplay is markedly different than Tony Hawk--something that veterans of the latter might really appreciate.
