Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas - PS3

A thinking mans shooter

I know tons of hype goes out to a series called "HALF LIFE" for reinventing the "Shooter" genre. But lets be honest, if you wanna reinvent the shooter then you gotta go with something that allows you to shoot and still have some fun. If you want a thinking mans shooter then pick up Rainbow Six. You get to infiltrate, command and blow the enemies head off. Sounds like fun, well it is! And its not easy! Clancy's Vegas is a sight to behold and plays Smooth, with a great "Duck and Cover" feature. No destructable cover but still a game u gotta get your hands on. It highlights great AI on both sides, good looking graphics and like I said just hard enough to keep you from mowing down the opisition but at the same time not making you go mad..... If you get a chance to pick this title up. Make sure you do, and remember part 2 is right around the corner.

What Happens In Vegas Stays In Vegas

This game is not what we all thought when we watched the trailer that first came out last spring. However, it does give us an enjoyable game play, with interactive characters. The bots constantly change postion, keeping you on your toes.

Love at first... Um... Dead terrorist.

-Why I gave it 4.5: Graphics. It's consuming on how amazing they are. The detail to Sin City in spectacular! Every part has dazzling lighting, shading, texture, and colors. Very mind boggling awesome. Gameplay. The cover system may look like it's copying Gears of War, but it actually is more tuned, allowing you to be more exact. The commands for your troops are simple, yet perfect. Tell them to either attack, for only counter attack. Where to go, and what to do. And the AI is smart enough to do the rest. Controls. Three buttons for all of that I said above. The other controls are good, but there's a lot. It works fine once you get used to it, though. Sound. Very good voiceovers. Great use of music. -Why I didn't give it 5.00: Multiplayer. Compared to the rest of the game, it's not that impressive. It lacks the excitement of single player. -Other: I probably will never get tired of playing this game. Endless fun.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas

he best tactical shooter known to man finally makes its way to the PlayStation 3. But despite the extra seventh months of development and additional content, this Vegas visitor doesnt cash out with as many chips as its Xbox 360 counterpart. Make no mistake, Rainbow Six Vegas still offers a riveting single-player campaign that you can experience with up to four friends online (albeit without the cutscenes and story development) and the deepest multiplayer action available on consoles. The PS3 version even comes with two new multiplayer modes and 10 extra maps, five of which have yet to be released on Xbox 360. So whats the problem, you ask? The first thing you notice upon stepping off the helicopter and taking the safety off your rifle the graphics. While the game still looks like a next-generation title, it lacks many of the subtle points of refinement the Xbox 360 version offers. Environments are noticeably muddier and jaggier, as if Ubisoft forgot to use anti-aliasing. This especially stands out on the edges of buildings and on telephone wires. Despite Sonys boasts about the PS3s fantastic particle effects, the game also skimps on environmental effects like the dust clouds you see littered throughout the dirty Mexican streets that serve as the location for the first few missions. In an apparent effort to appease the SOCOM nation, the Ubisoft team also strayed from the fantastic Xbox 360 default control scheme, which used the left trigger as your cover button and the right trigger as your fire button. If you want to experience the game with optimal controls, switch to the Tactician scheme. Despite these minor flaws, Rainbow Six Vegas offers a fantastic FPS experience that rivals anything else on the PlayStation 3. If you havent played the game on the 360 already, this is a must-buy for any self-respecting fragger.
