LAIR Worth The Second Look
Initially when I played LAIR I had mixed feelings about the game. The graphics and sound are top notch and the overall game has very high production values. The story was well written and the characters have personality thanks to quality voice acting. On the other hand the SIXAXIS dragon flight controls could be very frustrating to even the most veteran of gamers so much so that you die more often from not being able to control your dragon's spastic flight. The lock-on system and lack of any targeting reticle also play into what I consider one of the worst gameplat decisions in recent history. However as the title of my reveiw indicates I have since downloaded the FREE update for LAIR that on top of including two additional dragons allows you to switch to analog flight and turn on a crosshair. Thank you Factor 5 for finally making LAIR, one of the game I was so looking forward to when I got my PS3, as fun as it is pretty. Though the game still suffers from last-gen design in terms of mission structure and truly feels like Star Wars Rogue Squadron with dragons instead of one the "alphabetically named wing" space ships it is still a fun game with an engaging story. Here's hoping that a sequel come out to expand upon the LAIR universe.

A Decent Game suffers from Overhype-itis
Lair is a pretty decent game that hs suffered from Overhyped-itis. But when you dig deep through the fact that it was suppose to be a Sony flagship game, it was suppose to show off the SIXAXIS' worth, and just look at it as a game that's suppose to entertain you and pose a challenge, Lair does just that albeit a sometimes frustrating challenge. Lair's biggest set back would have to be it's controls, I would be lying if I didn't say so. The controls aren't very intuitive sometimes and you end up making a move that you did not intend to make and also say swear words that you didn't intend to say. But make no mistake about it, once you get the hang of it, it actually feels kind of cool. With the graphics being almost top notch minus a few slow downs that occur when there are a lot of enemies on screen it looks and feels like you are gliding through the skies on the back of a fire-breathing dragon. If you bank the Sixaxis to the right the dragon banks to the right, if you pull the Sixaxis up the dragon flies up etc. The skies are big enough for error while fling, it's just that when you are in a tight battle the things like locking on the the wrong thing begin to show up. All in all Lair is a decent showing from the PS3. Minus the hype and Lair could have been a sleeper. I would definitely recommend this title to anyone the least bit interested.

LAIR
I pleyed through 5 levels of this beautiful(graphicaly) game and had to put it down and im going to trade it in. Seriously. I always at least play through a game once. Why am I doing this? Well, lets doing an actual review. Graphics 5.0 aside from frame rate drops here and there, the game is beautiful, the level of detail is amazing, and every cutscene is rendered and looks beautiful! Sound 5.0 another winner! I mean, they got a guy that has composed for movies to do this one, come on, it's epic! Story 2.0 The story is boring and predictable from the very beginning and just did not pull me in like I hoped. CONTROL 1.0 All I'm going to say, is I have not thrown a contoller since Mega Man 2 on NES when I was like 6. It was that frustrating. And I tried, HARD, A LOT. But, when you do something and it does the OPPOSITE of what you want it to do, or you have to do the same motion several(2-4 times!) to get results or, if you can even fathom this.....a combination of BOTH THINGS! Thing about that, pitching the controller "down" as if it were the reigns of a horse to mae it run fast, and your dragon turns 180 away from the battle. And that happens. ALOT. Motion controls (in this game at least) SUCK MAJOR RHINO BALLS!!!!! "Fun Factor" 2.75 While reaking havoc and all the cool dragon stuff is SUPER AWESOME when it works, it does not really work as much as it should. Rent it before you buy it. I wish I had.

LAIR
This game is wicked, I love it. The controls are original and take some getting used to. Instead of just sitting and moving your thumbs around you have to tilt the pad - lol its ace when you get used to it :) Graphics are out of this world and I have never seen a game look so perfect. I would give the game more points if it would have had multiplayer feature.

once u get the SIXAXIS down its not a bad game
i checked the reviews to this game on many different websites. it didnt get the reviews it should have. it did seem that on most of the websites that one thing was common. the controls. everyone complained about having to use the SIXAXIS to control the dragon. i agree, at first i didnt like having to use the SIXAXIS, but since i played Flow, and my Wii, it really wasnt an issue for me. anyone who gives this game crap for its controls should be fair and give every single Wii game bad reviews. lol just because its the same. u tilt the controller, its not the hard. the only problem i had was jerking it from side to side to attack other dragons. i often found myself just tilting the controller not jerking it. i think that once u get these controls down this game isnt as bad as everyone says. and if u ever played Flow or and Wii game these controls shouldnt be hard for u. so doing an overall review and not being so harsh on the controls i give it a 4.75. great graphics, great music, its fun. Buy it u'll like it, if ur still not sure rent it and give it a chance because i dont think the reviews its getting is fair.
