Resistance: Fall of Man is a first-person shooter from Insomniac, formerly known as I-8. Resistance gives an alternate telling of World War II, where an alien invasion forces the world to bind together to fight against this foreign threat. As Sergeant Nathan Hale of the U.S. Army Rangers, it's up to you to stop this alien menace from destroying London...and the rest of the Earth with it! Resistance also features split-screen cooperative modes, as well as online play for cross-country deathmatches. Resistance 2 is less realistic than games such as Halo or Rainbow Six, owing its fast-paced style to older games such as Quake, Doom, and Unreal.

PS3's Gears of War

Okay, so it's not perfect, but it's better that the overrated Halo! This game is a very solid shooter with a good campaign, diverse enemies, and massive multiplayer. However, there are some negatives. First of all, the campaign allies die way too easliy and the multiplayer sometimes has bad graphics. Also, the campaign is a bit long. However, this game got very good sales after the release of its sequal and since it was the first shooter for the PS3. If you're looking for a good, solid shooter, go with this game right here!

This game is kickass, but it can get boring sometimes. I would die one time, and quit for a couple hours, and play something else. other then that its good

Very OK Game

Your a soldier in the 50s, killing aliens that want to turn you into them.
That's new. I hate the controls on this game, it would be much better if the controls were like Call of Duty 4. Thats pretty much it about this game.

I expected nothing less from Insomniac

As one of the few titles available around the launch of PS3, Resistance: Fall of Man is a title aimed at bringing an intense first person shooter experience to PS3 owners, and it delivers as it should. The game is set in various areas in Europe. There is an alien invasion that is slowly taking over the human race; steadily infecting, and experimenting with mankind, they are the main threat that is running amok, and it's up to you (who else would it be?) to stop them. The game, as a first person shooter, brings gun toting, and using the environment and whatever you can find as a shield to the table. You'll face off against unique, and numerous species of the 'Chimera' and will fight both with any remaining soldier survivors, or on your lonesome. As a game from insomniac, you can expect to use a wide range of cool weapons with crazy abilities, and even crazier secondary fire. There are many different environments you will traverse, which span from indoor and out door environments and alien strongholds. You'll also take control of vehicles once in a while . The online multiplayer is pretty good, with modes you'd expect from your typical first person shooter. The twist is that you can play as either humans, or Chimera. Each have their own strengths and weaknesses, so this brings a little bit of depth to the online gameplay. Beating the campaign mode will unlock access to new weapons, and the ability to dual wield weapons, so the amount of content in Resistance isn't shallow. A great first person shooter, and a great launch title, Resistance: Fall of Man is a PS3 game to play.

Over Average Shooter

RFM is a decent shooter, but to be honest, I was expecting more from this title. It is not bad, it is simply lacking oomph...

First, the cutscenes: the storey is told while you watch some picture on the screen between the stages. That is not the best way to immerse the player in my view.

Second, the weapons are alright, but nothing feels outstanding or new: I mean you have the standard SMG, shotgun, handgun and an alien SMG... There could have been some improvements or else there. Regarding the weapons, one of the main problem I have is with the alien SMG, this one is useless from a certain distance, yet the enemy can hit you fairly well using the same weapon in the same situation...frustrating.

There are some good moment, like when you play co-op with bots and such. Driving vehicles is fun too. The concept of 4 levels of rechargeable life is great too.

The game took me about 8-10h to complete; not exactly long.

My advice is this: if you have not picked-up Call of Duty 4 or the Orange Box, get one of those (or both) before this title.

If you played them and you are looking for an average shooter, pick this $30 title up...
