So I bought Warhawk when it came out last November and for the first month got owned in every possible way. Then I gradually discovered the nuances of the game and became obsessed with discovering the ins and outs of the vehicles and weapons. I can now say I am totally comfortable with all aspects of the game. Yet a year later, I, or shall I say, my team still gets owned. Now, I can't blame this solely on myself. I blame it on lack of communication between teammates and hence lack of a common objective, or at least a timed objective.
It would be great if everyone had the basics down for the two major game modes; CTF and Zones. Those basics include capturing bases to spawn from, and continuing to advance your bases while also attempting to either secure a set of zones or capture the flag. But it is truly difficult to accomplish these tasks when many players seem to jump in a Warhawk and fly around and pound the other team from the air, while the other team runs around like chickens with their heads cut off. It seems that if I am in any game the majority of the time I am on a loosing team. NO FUN.
So that might just be the nature of certain multiplayers, but it seems to be more of an issue with this title. Now don't get me wrong, the entertainment and fun value is at a premium when you are in a good match. But depending on the time and day, a good match might be hard to find. Again, the nature of the game.
With the booster packs I have noticed certain advantages being taken away, yet it still boils down to the same lack of communication, or lack of a common objective.
This is not helped by the fact that when you purchase the game through the PSN, as I did, there is no manual to explain the game. You are forced to go online to their site and search for the manual, which is not practical to sort through. If only their were a set of "guidelines" for each game mode, rather than the one to two sentences you get on the game menu screen. I mean even monopoly has an instruction manual with some strategy tips.
The learning curve is steep, depending on the age of the player, and then once you learn the game, it is still quite difficult to find yourself with a cooperative bunch of players.
Not that great....

Around spring 2006 they launched the Warhawk website, I was so exited about this game, I could watch the gameplay and development movies over and over again, there was just something about the proud music, the beautiful graphics, and the planes that made this the first PS3 game that I really wanted to own. Then, around July or August they announced that they were no longer working on a single player campain, but were now focusing all there work on one huge multiplayer experience. I was hugely disapointed.
The graphics are just as good as I remember from the videos from spring '06. I just want to say that the water effects in the oceans are really good and realistic.
The multiplayer gameplay, while is done well, is hard to get into with more experienced players pwning you every 2 seconds while you know virtually nothing about the controls.
Honestly, I want to see a Warhawk 2, and there really needs to be a single player campain mode. Incognito has made a promising game that needs and should be expanded upon.

Warhawk is amazing!!! From the sweeping score, to the catchy visuals, this is a great game, and a must own for all fans of online war games. Supporting 32 players, and a huge variety of vehicles to choose from, no two rounds will play out the same way. And thats not to mention the biggest maps this side of WoW. It's amazing that they could pull it off so early into the PS3s lifecycle. Another thing I like is that the developers are still supporting it. Most games see maybe one expansion pack, two at best. But Warhawk recently released the third expansion pack, and an update featuring trophies, and two new game modes FOR FREE. Most games would charge you 10-15 bucks for a couple new gamemodes. It's not all good news though, as some people may not like the third person camera for an online game like this. And there are the occasional connection problems, but all in all great job incognito, and Sony.

Warhawk
I really like blowing things up. In most situations this statement would land me in prison, where making things explode would be limited to the warden's anger, but thankfully I have my PS3 and Warhawk to help with this slight aberration, letting me enjoy the soothing art of explosions.
