Genji: Dawn of the Samurai - PS2

The Best.Ever.

The title of this article sums up the game. The Best. Ever. If I could give this game a higher score than 5, it would get it. The graphics are just the most awesome, mindblowing thing I've ever seen in both gameplay and cut scenes. the cut scenes are nice and short and the graphics in the cut scenes are possibly the best the ps2 could deliver. Although the game itself is short, I could replay it and replay it and replay it. Game Republic just did totally awesome on their first game. The controls are very easy, smooth and simple. If you don't want do buy it, it's a very good rental that you could finish in one rental period, depending on how much time you have to spend each day. But the game can be completed in 7-9 hours by just a mediocre player like me. I reccomend it to any one and everyone who likes swordfighting games, RPGs, and Japanese games. Totally awesome game. It is my number 1 favorite game ever and I'm glad I bought it.

Button Mash....Slash its all the same

Genji: Dawn of the Samurai is a game that when first looked at seems all to familiar. With games like Onimusha out on shelves Samurai games have much to live up to. Genji however delivers in a way that Onimusha does not. Genji has a typical story ....There is a race of people who are gaining power and you are special and have special stones that give you special powers....we heard the story. The story is not bad however but the true fun lies within the gameplay. Genji has a certain sort of depth that Onimusha seemed to have lacked. The ability to level up your character and purchase new weapons and armor with money gives the game a role playing feel and the characters seem more your own. The hack n slash gameplay couldn't be more satisfying. Genji runs at a whole different pace than Onimusha and offers something Onimusha never did....Jumping. Deathblows can be delivered at astonishing rates and with a matrix sort of slow mo twist the games battles can be fun and intense, something that seems to be lacking in some games nowadays. -Bert

Fast passed hack and slash action

If you read the review the guys and girls at gamepro made they really hit the nail on the head with this one. I could not put this game down when I first got it. I found myself planning to skip class the next day. Fans of all ages and backgrounds will love this game. The two main characters you control will accommodate any level gamer out there. For the fast paced and more skillful gamers you can take control of Yatagarasu. Then for the slower but way more powerful character you can take Benkei. I personal like fast paced game play so I will run circles around the four to five enemies that circle you at once and hack them into dust! Then the story does suck you into it. However some people will bash this game and cry because they have to read, sad really is. The whole games dialogue is in Japanese. Look on the bright side, great game all around and for a forty dollar price tag that is a great buy in my book. Just remember fans of any Onimusha and any Dynasty Warrior game will love it
