Transformers Armada: Prelude to Energon - PS2

NICE TRY - WISH IT WAS BETTER

They finally made a Transformers game that was fun to play, but the game was way too short. Graphics and gameplay were actually very good. Handling each robot was easy and enemies were a good challenge (Starscream was a pain) which makes battling fun. Free reign of each world was a plus and the story was ok. I do have to say that Fighting UNICRON was fun but they could of done more to make it so you could fight him as a robot and as a planet. Game should have been alot longer as I went through it very quickly and it didnt have that much replay value.

Less than meets the Hype

Ok, this really isn't THAT bad of a game. It is just a dissappointing game. You play as one of three Autobots, Optimus Prime, Red Alert or Hot Shot as you attempt to beat the Deceptocons to the Minicons. Got that? Good. Anyway, the game is very underwhelming. While there are some great moments, each one seems offset by an equally bad one. For ever looming shadow overhead from passing airships, to bullet holes, in mid air. For ever snow blowing across the Arctic ice, there's are clunky controls that don't respond. For every realistic explosion, there's not being able to jump on a rock or ledge that isn't even knee- high. The games seems to be built around nostalgia and only that. You wait for something grand to happen, but the game always manages to disappoint. The game is too short and there isn't anything worth writing home about. At most, a rental. 3.0 folks.

Cool or dUMB

The game Transformers has many cool levels but some of the levels are very hard but fun to destroy the enemy. I think that the game should be able to stay in the stores for three more months. The coolest level in the game is the Alaska level. The Dumbest level would have to be the Alantic Ocean.

Transformers or Gobots

A pretty good transformer game considering the previous titles, but not good enough. I would have not ripped out my hair if I had a target lock system or maybe a map too. You have 3 autobots to choose from Hot Shot (speedster), Red Alert (SUV) and Optimus (heavy truck). When Optimus is in truck form he is pretty formidable running and plowing over the enemy bots, you just wish he is just as strong in robot form. In fact, the Decipticon army is increcibly strong and numerous. Your mission is to find the minicons (which the Decipticons have apparantly already found) which give you additional weapons, armor or items to help find other Minicons. You also team up with specific minicons that you can perform an energon draining powerlink which gives you a little edge over the Decipticon army. With a little more diversity in missions, characters and maybe a since that you need to hurry and get these minicons before the Decipticons do...this would be a great game.

bout time transformers got a decent game

i remember watching the original show when i was a kid many many years ago, maybe thats why i like this game so much. the graphics are pretty good and the view distance is pretty far although there is some slowdown when a lot is happening. sound is decent, pretty much what you'd expect. control is ok, getting on some of the platforms can be a bit annoying. there are a lot of unlockables, game concept art, video clips of the original show, action figure pics and design, music and some more stuff. there are three playable characters, optimus prime, hotshot and red alert. during the game your mission is pretty much to collect mini-cons and data-cons, i know, sounds dull. but...there is some depth behind this. the mini-cons are like bolt on weapons, armor, shields, limited flight and various other functions. they are arranged into separate teams by color and when 2 or more of the same team are equiped it'll grant a few bonuses to your character and the recharge rate of your weapons. all the mini-cons have a power rating of 1 to 4 and depending on what character you're using you're limited to 8 or 10 power slots, so mixing and matching are a given. the data-cons are the unlockable stuff you'll find under "extras" on the main menus as you collect them. there are actually more unlockables on the hardest difficulty setting. this one is worth a rent.
