NASCAR Thunder 2004 - PS2

The last great NASCAR game

NASCAR Thunder 2004 is the last great NASCAR game. This game has everything that you want in a NASCAR game. Graphics are good, the sound of the engine is sweet, and the controlls are easy. Still as great as when i bought it in 2003. Every other NASCAR game after this one has been repetitive. This game has to be in the top 10 in all time racing game. That's my opinion, of course, but, hey, it's the thought that matters.

Nascar Thunder 2004

This years addition to the series starts you off with of list of selections, beginning with a simple "Race now" option and leading to the more complex season and career modes. "Race now" provides you with a more freestyle feel, giving you the choice of selecting any one of your favorite drivers and tracks and allowing you to race instantly. However, most fans will be immediately drawn to the Season and Career modes after you've captured the feel for the game. Season mode allows you to pick or create your own driver, decide how many races you'll run and what difficulty you'll compete at. Everything is set for you, the pit crew, money and such so all you'll have to focus on is "Racing." During a season mode, a maximum of 20 years will be provided for you to master your own racing success. Though, the core of the game revolves around Career mode. You'll begin with roughly 60,000 dollars to build a car and hire crew members at an affordable price. The crew members you acquire to your team are split into two groups, the pit crew, as well the builder's group who's main objective is to repair your engines, chassis, and body, as well as putting their efforts into some Research and Development so you can accommodate better parts to your car. As you progress and stock up on some cash, it'll be time to make some various upgrades to improve the overall performance of your car. As far as the graphics and gameplay, the cars are beautifully textured, reflecting the real thing. The tracks are highly detailed which gives you a greater sense of speed. The gameplay has vastly improved from it's earlier versions, this time with a smoother framerate and a more realistic style of racing. Overall, Nascar Thunder 2004 will leave you playing until next years release. All in all, the gameplay cannot be beat, so get ready to trade paint with some of the world's greatest drivers as you work your way up to becomming a Nascar legend.

Nascar thunder 2004

Nascar thunder 2004 is a great game. The career mode this season had more option and situration to deal with. The lighting challeges are even better than ever. the bad thing about nascar thunder is that i could win 14 races and 10 poles in one season, but go thorugh four or five sponsers.

Different Experience!

After playing Nascar Thunder 2003 I was pretty impressed on how much the game had progressed since earlier editions. I really enjoyed the career mode, it added much needed depth to the game. It was challenging, but also fun to spend some time playing it. I was expecting the new edition to add some more depth and better features to the game. It did impress me, and it is a game that will only continue to become more realistic. At the same time it might hurt the game in regards to those who aren't driving experts, or those who are looking for some fast paced action with fair A.I. competitors who don't slam you into the wall for not breaking fast enough behind them. I'll point out that the great new qualities about this game are 1. Better graphics/realistic racing environment. 2. The friend or foe memory is a nice adjustment. 3. Career mode is deeper and more adjustable then ever Now those aspects deserve a 5.0 rating, but there are minor details that might need to be addressed before next year's version comes out. 1. The steering is a bit too sensitive in many situations, causing mutiple crashes for those not really experienced in Nascar driving games. 2. For fairly new players of the game the friend or foe aspect can really take fun out of the game, because it seems the entire race field is against you by the third or fourth race due to mutiple crashes and bumping of cars that result from the cars in front slamming on their brakes at multiple turns. 3. Your car will be swiss cheese by the 5th race if you can't control these new features of the game, and alot of people I have observed can't. Hence, career mode is too difficult for them, since their car will be running about as smooth as a suped up minivan. So except for those little issues that are mentioned above, the game is on track to be the best in its field for years to come. Beginners beware, and veterans have at it!

It's a must if you like real racing

Definitely a must if you like racing. With the computer A.I. characters having their own personality really makes this game great. The career mode rocks if you are smart enough to know how to set up the cars like I can. I took the Cup in the second season. It is one you'll never get tired of playing.
