Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines

Usually, when a great movie is made into a game, you can expect at least a decent gameplay experience. But what happens when a mediocre movie is made into a game. The results are not good. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines is a great example of an apocolyptic future for a movie liscensed game that only has that liscense to go by. Almost everything goes wrong with this game, starting with control. The controlls are frustrating. Just the simple act of switching weopons made my eyes bulge out of their sockets. Well, I guess I didn't get that angry, but close. Level design and AI are also disapointingly lackluster. Everything feels claustrophobic while at the same time extremely dull. I could usually dance circles around my enemies and incapacitate them without a scratch. Yippy cy yay!!! The tekken style fights that take place are just plain funny, and boring. The moves consist of a few button presses and lack any kind of depth. Just a little depth would have made them sort of fun, but no, just boring. But even with all of these horrible flaws, most movie liscensed games usually at least have decent graphics. Well, the cutscenes do, which is the only reason this game didn't get a lower score. It seems that all of the work went into the cutscenes and music. But during gameplay the graphics are just bad. Hands down bad. All the textures are muddy and lack any kind of creativity at all. I'm wondering if the publisher only gave the developer a month to work on this one or something, because this game just isn't worth more than 10 dollars at the most. The only really interesting thing here is the demo of Terminator 3: Redemption. Which, by the way, actually looks cool. Hmm. Now I know how bad the really is for mankind. A bunch of dumb robots walking in a line! Oh My!
