MVP Baseball 2003 - PS2

MVP Baseball......its in the game!

MVP Baseball is one of the best baseball games this year. Of what i have played (this and high heat), i would recommend MVP baseball to any baseball fan. First, the Franchise mode is awesome. In this mode, EA made some great changes and additions to the usual franchise mode. For starters, depending on the team, you must try to meet a certain number of accomplishments in 10 seasons. These can range from playing 2-3 seasons of .550 or .650 baseball, to winning a world series, to having a player lead the major in HRs for a season. Also, each game has an impact rating. The higher the rating, the greater effect the games outcome has on your momentum. Also, you receive a manager rating each month; higher ratings lead to higher annual funds. In addition, you can also sim games as expected, but you can jump in a simulated game during any inning. Also, the pitching meter is a nice addition, as it helps control your pitch's speed/effectiveness and location. The batting system is fine, and it isnt too hard to hit homeruns. in fact, with the 'cubbies' in franchise, sosa has 50 homeruns--in only about 70 games! The hr derby is also unique,as it tallies up the distance of your hits. The lists of negatives is short. Some animations are cheesy, and fielders dive and jump automatically (no manual). Also, some superstars can homer very easily, but thats not necessarily bad. A great game for any baseball fan.

The best Bball game

This is the best baseball game since all-star baseball 2000. in all the other baseball games i have ever played, the pitching made me bored out of my mind. its easy to strike people out on rookie, but i hate playing on rookie. i play on all-star and its fun. it makes you use the entire plate when you pitch. you have to work the batter and earn your strikeouts. the hitting is really fun too, its not super easy, but its not impossible. one guy complained about not be able to hit homers, the he really sucks. if you use the analog stick right, you can hit homers with your homerun hitters. the only bad thing about this game is the fielding. on manual fielding, you cant dive or jump on your own. when you turn double plays, the 2nd baseman or the SS, whoever is covering second always double clutches when he makes the through, but thats just being really tedious. it usually doesnt effect the outcome of the play. my advice to all the gamers out ther is to get this game, it is worth the money...

The name the crowd chants MVP MVP MVP

The best graphics of any baseball game ever! Player models and faces are perfect. Dirty uniforms, broken bats, and franchise goals are nice additions. Create a player and franchise are deep too. Only problem with this game is not being able to pick if u wanna dive or not. Not that many home run robs either. Oh Ea if you want a really good game get better music for all your 2004 games! This game is almost perfect. Can you hear it MVP! MVP! MVP!

MVP is the best Baseball game out there

I have rented All-Star baseball, High Heat, Slugfest, and MVP. By far the best game is MVP all the other games are the same clasic thing a circle and u hit the ball inside the circle. On MVP it is compleatly differnt and it actually makes it a challenge to hit it right. And the Piching is cool too. There is a meater so u will not allways throw it right where you want it. The graphics are also the best of the 4 games. The reaplays are awsome they make it look so real. So I would recomend this game to anyone looking for a new baseball game to buy.

Light years beyond ASB

When you think of PS2 baseball, you either think of the High Heat or ASB series installments. The Triple Play series has sucked tremendously over the last couple of years. Luckily EA realized this and definitely came through with one of the best baseball titles of the year. First I'll start with the graphics, and folks, this game is GORGEOUS. The player models are great and the game moves along very fluidly. You really start to notice this on the replays, where the swing and connection with the ball is like BUTTAH. The sound is ok, nothing revolutionary. The commentary is good but gets somewhat repetitive after the first 20 games or so. The control is where EA really picked up their game. The cursor hitting is gone, but is replaced by hitting controls that blow it out of the water. Pitching control is somewhat reminiscent of WSB2K1 for DC(which by the way, was the only highlight of that game). Fielding is a breeze once you get used to it. The only control gripe I have is that double plays are not turned as fast as you would like. The fielders seem to hesitate. Overall, this game is good enough for the casual gamer. It is not a sim-heavy experience, but if you are looking for a game like that, head in ASB 2004's direction. This game should keep you coming back for more, that is, until next years version is released. Graphics 5.0 Sound 4.5 Control 4.5 Fun Factor 5.0
