Pre-GUN

Once a lost title in Capcom's vaporware bin, Red Dead Revolver was given the Rockstar treatment. The product is great, even though it could have been better. The story is your avaerage spaghetti western that would make John Wayne smile. The gameplay is a mission based run and gun game. There are some nifty features, like a duck and cover feature and a bulet-time mode. But the best features are the duel-mode, where you duel against people in a slo-mo montaje, and the multiplayer, where you can fight your friends with characters you unlock. There are also some light weapon upgrade aspects as well. The problems with the game is that the game has little but shooting in it. Besides the weapon upgrades all you do is run and gun. There are some stealth missions, but they are so poorly done that your only stealthy for two seconds before you pull out your gun again. The duel mode is cool, but unbalanced. By the end of the game, your dueling three men at once. The included bar fights could have been cool, but the controls are clunky in this case. The worst part is that the gunplay is imbalanced. One character can't take a knife to the leg, while another can take five point blank shots to the face. Another thing that got me was that the city you stay in is bland. This would have benefitted from the minigames that the game GUN had in it. This is the best cowboy game out there, and I hope the sequel is more fleshed out.

Not bad...

I love the graphics of this game! They are my favorite part of the game. The rest of the game is alright. Don't get me wrong, the shooting is fun. It just gets old when THAT'S ALL YOU DO!! I was pretty disappointed at the game. It has 2-player, but even that gets old. Since San Andreas was so good, Rockstar can do better. Sorry, but I wasn't impressed. I almost gave it a 2.0!
