Bad gameplay

First off, this game is not easy, which may have added to my dislike. Most of the time I had no clue where to go on a ship. No one gives instructions or any help. It's basically "Meet whoever here. Good luck." The second problem I had was all the cut scenes. In the first 2 hours or so I played only about a third of it was gameplay. The rest was people talking. The cut scenes aren't even in higher quality graphics like many others. The voice acting was pretty good though. Third, every talks in acronyms. There are so many and half the time they don't tell you what it means. Kind of frustrating when they mention something that seems important, but it's an acronym that's meaning is never said. Now I'll talk about the positives. The battles are turn based, but interesting. You have combinations of buttons to execute different attacks. Maybe triangle triangle or triangle square. If you waited a turn you save up enough AP (I think that's what it was called) to execute a 3 button combo: normal 2 button combo then circle at the end. The character will pull out some special weapon and do more damage (KOS-MOS' gatling gun was pretty sweet). In some battles you fight giant mechs (similar to gundams)called A.G.W.S. (pronounced "aygs"). You can then bust out your A.G.W.S. One character pilots their A.G.W.S. behind the rest of the party. The last feature of the battle system is a thing called "Boost." I never got the hang of it. As a character does damage their boost gauge builds. When it's full you can boost them in the turn list. So you can basically take 2 turns in a row. The story was good. Basically the humans are trying to defeat the Gnosis. The humans develop weapons to use against them and that's about as far as I got. There's a lot more to it that I for one reason or another don't feel like saying. I would have liked to have finished it. Ultimately, this game was just not fun for me to play. So I quit and sold it back to Gamestop.

Love it but..................

I love it but I am up to a part that always Frezzes.I wish I knew what was wrong.I mean I was up to such a good part.But anyway,the grapics and gameplay is good.That is why I have given this game a 4.0 out of 5.0.

The number one RPG of the year!!!

RPG fans, your dream has come true. Xenosaga Episode 1 is hands down the best role playing game ever made, the graphics are amazing, the music is breath taking (especially the battling music), the controls are spot on. The cut scenes are excellent and all voice acted!! While there are alot of them, you will definetly want to see them all. I was hanging on the edge of my seat and sweating with anticipation to see what happens next. The game is fairly linear and the whole character costumization thing does take time to get used to. But all that will be a memory once you see how fun this game is. And this is only episode 1, can't wait to see what episode two is like. And if you don't like the long cut scenes, you can always skip over them. Do yourself a favor and go buy this game!!!

good title

To start, you need a lot of time for the game. Also you need devotion. If you have neither, you might as well look elsewere. But If you can live through hours of cinemas, your in for a great game. Like I mentioned above, this game has a lot of cinemas, but not a lot of 'action' parts so you spend most of your time being swayed by the well done story. The graphics are good too. But It you hate anime you will dislike the graphics because it just a '3-D cartoon' The sound is one of my complaints. There is so little for background music. It is good but just a limited amount. Kinda bad since you watch the long movies and you get annoyed because of the same music. Control-wise it is fine. It a RPG, there is no worry about control. And to sum it up it a good game but is for those patient types

its okay...

this game is one i didnt finish becaus ei dont have the time, but the parts i played WERE fun and i did enjoy them, but being my self as a rabid Final Fantasy fan,i couldnt compare it to FF.one thing i really didnt like was how slow the characters move.
