One Of The Greatest Fighting Games Ever!

I love this game, because it matches up fights that many people talked about for year, and sorry about the old review.

P.S. they should make a DBZ vs street fighter

Great 2D Fighter

While many complain that the game is unbalanced, this is only somewhat true. As someone mentioned earlier, Wolverine is a very good character in this game. However, to say that he or any other is the absolute best is making a huge leap.

Sure, there are about 8-12 charaters that are really considered to be the top tier, but that is certainly enough to find yourself a team that suits your personality and play Among these top tiers, there are a large variety of characters ranging from the gigantic Sentinel, to the viciously aggressive Wolverine, to the super quick characters such as Stryder and Magneto, to some "cheaper" projectile junkies' dream fighters such as Cable, to the more complicated and intricate fighters that require good strategy and quick hands such as Dr. Doom and (though some might argue this one) Spiral, all the way down to those annoying "run-away" and "poke" characters like Storm.

In my opinion, this is certainly the best overall 2D fighter you will ever find. Fighting games tend to be very difficult to balance, and if the creaters can make a top tier list that encompasses about 15-20% of the overall character base, you're doing a pretty good job. If you want a "perfectly balanced" game, go play Starcraft. Otherwise, when you're looking for a fun fighter that is easy to pick up and play, while at the same time making you realize the complexities and strategy factors involved, stick with this one.

Pros: Good fighter base, nicely graphics, and a fun yet deep fighting system.
Cons: While the music list is nice, a few more character themed songs would have been nice.

FIGHT

In my opinion this is one of the best fighting games i have ever played. it has every thing you want, tons of characters from Ryu and Jill valentine to gambit and silver samurai, a great fighting system, and good visuals. i actually have a copy of the ps2 version of this game and i bought it for $60 on ebay, but it might have just been the best @60 i have ever payed. if you can find this game and if you like fighters, then you ow it to yourself to get this game!

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - PS2

not what i was looking for

i was expecting old marvel vs. capcom characters with same fighting techniques. didnt get it! whew man what a flop. not to mention that there is no balance among characters, wolverine completely outperforms all other characters by far while others hardly even compare. hardly like any part of this game.

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 - PS2

No balance

No balance at all in this game. about 8 characters are so much completely better then all the others, theres no point even trying to play a tournament with them. But, I guess if you are into the Marvel series of fighters, and love a huge roster, pick this one up. Practicing endless super combos can be amusing... not a bad game in all.

  • Jul. 28, 2009 Review: Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (360)

After playing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 again, it's easy to see why there hasn't been a sequel for almost ten years -- it's almost impossible to improve upon perfection. This cult-hit title has an insane roster made up of characters from Capcom's stable -- Mega Man, Ryu, Jill Valentine -- as well as favorites from Marvel like Iron Man, Spider-Man and Wolverine. Add in the 3-on-3 team combat, a complex fighting system and hundreds of screen-filling ultra combo bonanzas, and it's obvious: this game makes almost any other fighter look boring and lifeless by comparison. Now, the game is coming to XBLA and PSN with one amazing addition: online multiplayer.
