Suikoden III - PS2

Terrific Climax to a superb game!

I must say, this is without a doubt, one of the best game I have ever played. Now, you can play as Hugo, Geddoe or Chris. You can pick any of them after one character's chapter. So what makes this so good? Well, the fact that you can't pick all three in one turn, so while you might play as Hugo for chapter 3, you'll be so excited to find out the truth with Geddoe at chapter 3 also. It's really fun and challenging to get all the stars. But the story is one of the best ever! Overall, this is one game you DON'T want to miss!

This is a great game...

This is a great game. It rivals Kingdom Hearts for crying out loud! The graphics are pretty good and I think there would be too many people to do voice-overs for so that doesn't take away any points. But if you don't really like RPG's, rent this one first or something.

Pretty Disapointing

As a fan of the first two games, I was quite disappointed with this third installment. They did much in this version that ruined the feel of the series. First of all, they effectively destroyed the epic feel of the game by splitting the game up into three different characters with three different stories. They farther ruined the epic feel by dividing the game up into chapters. The graphics are better looking, but the animation is rather poor and your characters trip along like rusty robots. Also another disappointment was that the overworld was replaced with a map much like in Grandia II. Also, many times I found my characters agreeing to things that I felt was wrong which alienated me from the characters (instead of giving me the choice to disagree like in the previous games). I found that the more of this game I played, the less I liked it. While those who are new to the series may enjoy this game which seems a mix of Grandia 2 and Saga Frontier 2, long time fans of the series will be disappointed.

Dissapointing

The first games (Suikoden & Suikoden II) are among the best games in the role-playing genre. Suikoden III turns all of that into crap. I cant deny that its a good game,It just destroys the series. The gameplay is easy,None of the games in this series were remotely challenging(why they are so fun XD) & the battles are a bit different. The charecters are well done. With 108 charecters you dont expect for them to get everyone with a well done chrecter,But they do a lot. And the story itself. The first 2 suikodens were not "Save the world" stories. This one should not have been one either. but it was....throughout the first 3 chapters, the impeding war with grassland intensifys down to one event, then they all unite. Phweh. Its pretty awful if you ask me. Put this on your games-to-get list. Just not before Final Famtasy X,Xenosaga,OR Wild Arms 3(my mistake) -V.R. =)

New Title, New Thrills

Suikoden III is the latest instalment in Konomi's RPG series. The game is very well done graphically and musically. The battle system is very different from the rest of the series, but it's easy to master. Plus, the trinity system makes the game more complelling through the view of three different people. The only thing that is stopping S3 from getting a perfect score is that the storyline has many plot holes that are not explained to well. The plot is not as rock solid as Suikoden I and II, but that's it's only flaw. I recomend this game to any RPG lover out there (but buy Suikoden I and II and load the saved data from each to get the full effect of each game) Graphics: 5.0 Sound: 5.0 Controlls: 4.5 Fun Factor: 4.5 Overall: 4.5
