Shadow Hearts - PS2

Pros Cons
Engaging story
Epic boss fights
Innovative concepts
Just plain fun
Should be a Cult Classic

This RPG was an amazingly innovative that was overshadowed and overlooked. With a unique battle system, a highly original and in-depth story line make this game one of the greatest RPGs I have ever played. The characters have actual depth to them, and the story line keeps you guessing as to what will happen next. While the characters may follow some stereotypical RPG tropes, the gameplay covers that fact and allows one to focus on the story. It is an amazing game, with innovative stories, concepts, and game play, this game deserves far more recognition than it has ever gotten.

Living in FFX's shadow

Although generally overlooked Shadow Hearts recieved only moderate reviews by most magazines. However dive further in and you will find a fairly involved RPG with much to offer. Shadow Hearts doesn't bring tons of new ideas to the table but does give a mature demon/monster twist along with a battle system that keeps you involved in every battle. The game's dialogue is rather comical but flows through and the game keeps you interested with twists and turns around every corner. The sidequests are strange in their own delightful manner and can become rather involved in their own way. Although far from perfect Shadow Hearts has alot to offer considering RPGs on a classical scale are seen less and less. Shadow Hearts isn't for everyone but for some it will be a breath of fresh air.... possibly.-Bert

BETTER THAN I EXPECTED

I am a big RPG fan so I figured I would try this one out. I was actually surprized at how good it really was. The story line is excellent and the characters are interesting and have a good sense of humor in their personaliies. (watch for sexual references) The battle system is great and keeps you involved in all the battles, big or small. The only thing I didnt like was the REPEAT monsters. Meaning it was the same monster only different colors on some levels. Overall if your a RPG fan you will like this game alot.

erotic book?!

if you're some weird gamer like me and you've already beaten FFX, Shadow Hearts is the game for you. RPG freaks looking for more bang for their buck can get it in this chuck full o' laughs game. beware for subtle sexual situations...

Shadow Hearts - PS2

great, now where's the sequal?

I just got this game and at first i was a bit sceptical. BUT...it turned out to be one hell of a good game. I'll admit, its no FFX but in some cases, it can be more fun than the great FFX. The battle system is top notch, like Legend of the Dragoon where there is more to just hitting "attack" and watching the rest. It makes an RPG more appealing to be able to determine how well your character will damage the enemy. I think Shadow Hearts is a refreshing RPG with a lot of good ideas, but lacks a little in polish. It DOES NOT take away from the overall experience, which is great in so many ways.

A dark, bloody battle between good and evil awaits in Shadow Hearts?but don?t expect anything really appealing in this otherwise solid RPG.
