Theme Park Roller Coaster - PS2

Switch the Names Around, and You Have a Decent Game

For a game that was so poorly criticized, people saw only the negatives. Of course, one must understand that when reviewing a game, they must look through the perspective of all gamers, not just their own views of...life. The game starts with you as a park builder, with money and about twenty acres of land to build your dream park. You have about four themes, each with its own "sub-theme," and various rides to choose from. Yet, the first thing usually noticed is the lack of variety in the rides and the inability to modify them as you wish. It is sometimes difficult to manage your park without having to access lousy menus, and placement of pieces is fairly difficult. Look into this game before spending your hard earned dough. G R A P H I C S - 4.0 Like all SIM games, the visuals are rich and cartoony. Although the smushy textures and polygonal characters bring this game down a notch. S O U N D - 3.5 The sounds of the kids are repetitive, and the annoying little ant guy gets on mnay people's nerves, telling you stuff you already know. But please, try to refrain from throwing the controller at the screen, they're expensive. C O N T R O L - 4.0 Pretty good with placement of objects. But the limitations and boundaries when constructing a coaster can make someone mad. Very mad. F U N F A C T O R - 4.0 This really depends on who you are. For example; if your IQ is below 150, don't get this game, because it takes a genious to figure out how to work their way through the menus. But if you're a SIM fan, then this is a definite yes yes.

Theme Park Roller Coaster - PS2

Ok game...for the first few seconds.....

The graphics are nice, but they just don't live up to what the PS2 should be able to do. Checking out rides from first-person view is entertaining for awhile, depending on what attraction you're riding. It's aggravating to try to find out exactly what your customers are thinking, because the "cloud" above their heads show really tiny pictures. You can't tell wether a customer is showing a "thumbs-up" or "thumbs-down". Maybe if I switched to first-person mode I could. The controls are simple enough, but not being able to price attractions at exactly the amount I want gets aggravating. And who the hell thought up that pain-in-the-ass "Advisor"?! He interrupts you every damn three minutes, yakking about something that you'd eventually find at the bottom of the screen or in your messages. I have some advise for the people who came up with this game..if you make another one, give us a function that'll let us turn the Advisor off, and make our own damn decisions. Even my 7-year old brother got tired of this game. And my brother LOVES video games. If he thinks it's crappy, then it's GOT to be. Stick with the "Rollercoaster Tycoon" games for the computer. "Theme Park Rollercoaster" is definately no thrill ride.
