Call of Duty: World at War - PS3
For all the talk about how first-person shooters have milked World War II dry, the conflict's sheer battlefield variety and tactical scope make it a natural home for the genre. World at War doesn't innovate with quite the ambitious vigor of Call of Duty 4, and it falters a little on the single-player front, but it's every bit as energizing where it matters most.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Developer Treyarch did a fantastic job of not reinventing the wheel with World at War. Rather, they took the best elements of Modern Warfare and expanded upon them. The end product is a thrilling experience that injects some of the visceral punch back into World War II. The single-player mode is short but sweet and it unlocks the awesome Nazi Zombies mode but the true strength of WaW is the compelling multiplayer, which should have you huddled in the virtual trenches for a long time to come. -
Call of Duty: World at War - PC
I'm a big CoD honk; I played the first two games religiously and every now and again, I'll reinstall one or the other and play through it from beginning to end. I didn't appreciate the third installment very much, mostly because they didn't bother releasing it on the PC (what were they thinking?) but the franchise redeemed itself with the sublime Modern Warfare. I loved that game-the single-player was awesome (AC130 missions FTW!), the modern setting was fantastic and holy crap was the multiplayer good! I was initially skeptical when World at War was announced-why go back to World War II when the modern setting hadn't yet been fully explored-but my doubts quickly disappeared when I finally got my hands on a copy.

THE BOTTOM LINE: To call it Call of Duty 4 with a World War II skin is insulting to Treyarch because World at War is so much more than that. It's a great follow up to Modern Warfare and proves that World War II is still a viscerally charged conflict to live through. The single-player campaign is a tad short and it isn't as polished as Modern Warfare's but the action is intense, there are plenty of thrills and the multiplayer looks like it will be just as awesome. I'm especially looking forward to the Nazi Zombies mode.

Call Of Duty World At War has it's moments!!
call of duty 5 offers the potential of WWII multiplayer gaming. It just dosen't have the best single player WWII expereince. the multiplayer features a highly enjoyable selection of perks,a handy clan system, and great game mods:zombie nazi, war,
ctf,and team deathmatch are highly enjoyable and I also enjoyed the co-op campaign. But I think they should have added more vehicles such as airplanes, jeeps, and motorcycles. This game is to me a WWII that needs a little more content to go on my favorites and some storyline and blockbuster moments in the campagin.
