underrated in every single way
What can I say... this game rocks! its everything that you would have wanted and more. The game revolves around a cherokee named Tommy, who is sick of living in a cage like enviroment, but soon thats all going to change as him self, his girlfriend and his grand father are all kidnapped along with half the planet to a spaceship known as the shpere. Only this spaceship is different, gravity dosent exsist, wall walking, portals, spirit walking all the order of the day here, as you go after you girl friend and want vengence after you grand father is killed. Guided by your ghost pet hawk and tornted by the "mother" of the sphere this game has everything. Graphics: 10 out 10 they are superb! at max settings the game is crips clear, with full 8x AA the jaggies are nowhere to be seen, the view distance is amazing too, the alien desgin is brilliant they look a little like predators from the movies. Story: same old same old. Gameplay: this is where the game really shines, with rooms that can turn over on themselves, wall walking, spirit walking, guns that seem to be alive and enviroments that seem to be breathing the game oozes appeal, quite litterally. Online: Lacks players and serves only 36 server in total. overall an amazing game, a little short lived as i beat it within 8 hours, hears hoping the sequel is as good if not better and they sort out the online play as this oozes potentiol in that area.

Great Game
Note: I've only played the demo as of this review. Prey is the most interesting FPS I've played since HL2. Having gravity become part of the gameplay keeps you on your toes because it real easy to get disoriented. The portals are a nice touch as well, being that i found myslef in some strange spots, such as: following myself through a series of portals. Spirit Walking makes it less tempting to use "no clip" cheats, so its easy to get to hard to reach areas. After learning to spirit walk there is no Game Over, cause you get the chance to fight for your body in the spirit world. How cool is that? Having the game based of the Doom 3 engine is nice cause the game looks good at low resolutions. The AI seems ok, not as good as FEAR...but good enough. Good physics. the 4 weapons I had access to are cool, but nothing I havent seen before. Im planning on buying the full version of this game, I want to see how much crazier it can get! (this is my first review, take it easy on me)

Prey must Pay to Play
What's the deal hear Gamepro? How much did Prey's marketing team pay you? I'm not kidding, I want to know what is going on here. This game is not outstanding, and mark my words, will do absolutely nothing to enhance games in the coming years. The portals are a gimmick...show/tell me how this is innovative (besides being a neat effect)...how will this enhance gameplay in a positive way? You must be thinking it is cool for enemies to appear out of thin air, or at least accept it as something that is inescapable in games....WRONG. The characters are simply no better than those in Oblivion (and those weren't really that great to begin with). They look bad because texturing is weak/bad, and areas that could have used extra pixels didn't get that attention. Also, the normals they use go against the actual physical grain of the models....WEAK. Environments are intersting, but nothing we haven't seen before. Sounds are good, I'll give the developers that. Voice acting is absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary. Can I not think for myself? Do I need some (annoying) indian saying "Holy $#^t" when something explodes? NO. The story is okay, I must admit I was quite interested when abduction occured, very good scene there, and there are some nice twists along the end. But, this game WILL NOT change anything about the way games are created, thought of, or played. Walking on different walls is cool, but cool is a word saved for more gimmicks. Just admit it Vicious Sid, and Gamepro, the developers of Prey paid your establishment, and many others, to "play nice" when writing a review. Shame on you all, you help to bring down the entire industry with such useless writing.
