The most lurid game I've ever played!
Awesome game! The special effects were amazingly lurid. I love spilling gore in the morning! Who the hell wouldn't like First Encounter Assault Recon?! And now the second expansion is gonna be released on the day after tomorrow!

Amazing!
This game rocks. The only bad thing about the game is that it isn't very long, but other than that, it is absolutely amazing.

F.E.A.R. isn't just a state of mind
What F.E.A.R. stands for is as unimportant as the story line of the game. As atmosphereic as F.E.A.R. is, it has nothing to do with the story. Through most of the game; hints of what is going on is sprinkled through out in the form of phone messages and laptop files. So where does the fear come from in the game? Well, it comes from the advanced AI. They flank, they work as a team, and most importantly they are patient. The AI in F.E.A.R. is its greatest selling point. I mean when enemies adapt to your game plan you get a nerving feeling. A feeling you can't even get playing online against human opponents. Graphiclly F.E.A.R. is very pretty, for a time. Eventually the bland drab colors just wash away any art direction that may have impressed you in the beginning. Depending on your graphic card the game looks very impressive in fire fights that cause an orgy of flying chunks of concrete fill a room. What also causes the game to feel bland is the lack of enemies. You'll be shooting through most of the same baddies and unfortuantly with the same guns. None of which seem to stand out. The audio is also impressive in the same way, very striking at first go, but toward the middle the graphics and sounds just become bland. The effects of the bullets flying and cracking their targets can be very satifying. Enemies shout orders at each other. You'll regularly hear them panicing or asking for back up and that adds another layer of realism to the enemy AI. Had it not been for the repeditive level design, average weapons and recycled enemy types, F.E.A.R. could have been a perfect game. In the end you are just praying for something other then action to motivate your actions. You forget you are super soldier and get lost in a string of exciting, yet pointless, battles. Enjoyable as a rollercoster, just don't expect the ride to take you anywhere.

The mind games have begun!
With a top of the line computer, F.E.A.R. takes on a whole new meaning. Storyline - 5.0 You play as the new Point Man who is assigned to the F.E.A.R. team to eliminate Paxton Fettle. Little are known about this guy, except that he has controlled a clone army and taken over Armacham Technology Corporation for some unknown reason. The point man from some unknown reason has super human reflexes and possess the power to slow down time. He is sent in to investigate with the F.E.A.R. team but from some unknown reason they end up nothing but a pile of blood and bones with a mysterious little girl appearring out of nowhere. Is she a delusion or is she real. Is she responsible for the death of the F.E.A.R. team and who is Paxton Fettle? Gamplay - 5.0 The A.I. is advanced with the enemies communicating with one another to flush you out of hiding. You the ability to slow down time and karate kick the enemy. It's close combat shoot it out FPS. Watch your back because the enemy will try to flank you. Graphics 5.0 - if you have a system able to run it at max setting (ATI Radeon 9800 pro and up or Nvidia Geforce 6800 and up). It's body tearing, limbs flying, holes in the wall non stop action with a creepy vibe. Overall - 5.0 Turn out the lights, lock your doors and turn up the sound. This game will creep you out. Daytime, nighttime, it doesn't matter. It's a solid FPS and one of the best in a long time.
