Planetside -- the first MMO FPS -- will soon be offering a FREE version. It's called the Cannon Fodder program. I've been playing Planetside since beta in April 2003 and it is a great game. If you like the community of a MMO, the action of a FPS and a wide variety of opportunities for teamwork, tactics and strategy then there is simply no better game on the market today, even over 2 years later. The "free" version will be coming out in February. SOE will offer a "limited" version of the game for free, with a free download of the client. You will only be able to level up to Battle Rank 6 (25 is the current maximum) and no Command Rank. Here are the latest details. In Planetside you earn Certification Points for each Battle Rank. So, at BR6, this means that you'll be able to get good armor, a bunch of weapons and a vehicle or a support cert (hacker, medic or engineer). When Planetside becomes "free" I highly encourage you to give it a try. But, don't just jump in and run around and kill stuff. Join a good Outfit (clan) and learn from some experienced players. You will have a lot more fun and will experience many things about PS that you might miss on your own. It's really the opportunities, and need, for teamwork that set PS apart from other good games. Planetside=Best MMRPG

PlanetSide is the biggest, most amazing game ive played in a long time. the graphics are great for being so big. sony created an entirely new world, with 10 continents. 3 empires, Terran Republic, New Conglomeret, and Vanu Soveriegnty, the object is to occupy as much land as possible during the day. on the planetside site, it will tell you which empire won that day and one what server. there are five different servers made for different parts of the real world. people all over play this game. and then when the day is over, the game resets and you do it again the next day. there is different armor and weapons for how you like to play. there is a MAX armor which is slow to get around, but if you like Metroid, you will like this armor. there is a infiltration suite, so when your not moving, none can see you. and normal armor, you can move quicker, but cant destroy anything except the same type of armor. you can fly and drive vehicles, but you need to fight to get battle exp points. this moves you up in rank. you need certifaction in the game before you can fly. same with the different armor and guns. it really is a very deep game. its a huge world, but best of all, no matter how many times i die, i never get mad because it is fun to die because the battles are amazing.
