Dark Age of Camelot - PC

One of the Greatest

I played from 2001-2004, had a wonderful time. Best MMO I've had the pleasure of playing. This is the big boy version of WoW. If you want a child's game, go play WoW. Met many different people, was a great hobby to have. - Gandy

Good game,but hard controls.

When I started to play this game it looked so cool, like the enviroments and characters, but then the controls started to get really hard.

The game of goodness

Well i started DoaC right after he beta version came out i never really played it cus i was into so many other online games and offline. i started playing Asherons calling runescape, ultima, ragnorok phantasy star, unreal tournament, and a few others, then i really started to play cam and notice that the enviroment was totally origional from all other games i have played. the poeple on the servers greet you and youre guild if you get one will usualy just talk and help noobs out if ur lucky. i knew no one playing the game at first and it still rocked beyond all reason. many people who have played other games i have found to be critics because they have a byast to there old game such as runescape and they get all mixed up with edicut and get people pissed at them and in turn get pissed off at the game.another great factor is the game is actually updated not like runescape where they might change the mud client to the the charectors faces a little beter once a month they add new dungeuns and such. And without any further adue the expansion pack comes out next few months. my suggestion is to go buy it as soon as you can

Destroys Other Online Competition

Without question, this is THE MMORPG to play. Pick a race, class, then level up, right? Wrong - you BECOME that person. Your real-life personality is reflected in how you play your character - make friends, enemies, your choice. The level of customization you have is amazing. From learning different class skill paths, to becoming a tradesperson in differents skills, to coloring your armor with various cheap or expensive dyes, you get to really tweak your character. The thought that went into making this a balanced game is incredible. With so many different classes, one would either expect there to be repeats or major imbalance, yet each class is distinct, and each has it's strengths and weaknesses. Melee fighters have tons of fighting styles available, yet can be frozen by a single caster's spell. Powerful spellcasters can do insane amounts of damage, yet die with one slash of an assassin's poisoned blade. The inter-relationships are complex, yet balanced. Finally, unlike other MMORPGs, where you are usually at the mercy of some other, higher-level character, this game encourages and rewards cooperation. You end up helping other characters because you WANT to, not because you have to. Whether you're a MMORPG veteran, or a newbie, this is THE one to own.

Best Online Game Out There

This is the first online game I've gotten into. All others that I've tried can't compare to this; Everquest, Asheron's Call, Ultima Online, etc,. The only one I can't compare is Anarchy Online, and that's just because I haven't played it (don't bother with it if you like downloading patches everyday!). Actually, this is what Everquest should have been. The best thing about the game: Hardly any lag time!!! Graphics: The graphics engine is amazing! If Everquest looked more like this, I'd be slightly more tempted to play it again. Sounds: The music always changes from battles to going into different towns. And it always sets the right mood. And the sound effects (from things like swords hitting, shields getting hit, etc,.) are sooo believable. Controls: The only slight complaint I have with the game is trying to remember all the hotkeys. But once you have all the hotkeys and commands figured out, it's a piece of cake. This is a definite "must-buy" for all Online Gamers. And if you've never played or checked out an online game, let this be your first. With a 30-day trial period, you cant go wrong!
