Game Description

NHL 2001 by EA Sports for PC is a hockey video game that brings gamers out of the stands and onto the ice. Lace up the skates and play with or against all 30 National Hockey League teams including the expansion Columbus Blue Jackets and Minnesota Wild. NHL 2001 invites the world to play with 20 International teams including new additions, Ukraine and Latvia. Feel the full hockey flavor by building a custom team with the jersey editor, logo importer, and customizable city and team names. Other features include "Face in the Game" feature, Quick Game, Season Play, Career Mode, Playoffs, Shootouts, and Tournaments.

NHL 2001 - PC

The best damn hockey game ever

This game has it all, people that would rate it bad because of internet have no lives and aren't real hockey fans. Being able to change jersey numbers, captains and alternates, etc. are some little things that make the game so damned amazing. The PC has definitly shown better graphics then the PS2's version and better gameplay and quicker loading times. (Of course it usally matters on your computer's speed), but oh well. All the players, alot of cool checks, and the dekes are great to have in there. One thing I really like also is the create a player, create a face, create a team, and being able to create a logo for your custom team. Great music from Collective Soul too. I give the graphics a 5.0, the sound a 5.0, the control a 5.0, and fun factor a 5.0, in other words, this game gets my perfect score of all 5.0's

I retract my last rating because of online hell!!

They messed up the online part of the game. This would be so much more fun, even though the gameplay is unrealistic and has numerous flaws. Why would EA bastardize the best part of the game. I am currently running a 800MHz, Voodoo 3000 16MB card, 256 or RAM, and a Cable connection. Why the hell do I get lag!!! It doesn't make sense. Not only that, but now there are only an average of 30 guys online, which is pathetic. This, accompanied by the games urge to boot me out for no apparent reason makes me retract my last rating. Damn you EA!! Damn you all to hell!!
