The definition of a Space Zombie Thriller
The only con I could select was "ugly visuals" but to say this you need a point of reference; by today's standards, it is ugly - or, more accurately, it is dated. However in its prime, the graphics were pretty good. Even bringing it back to today, it's still very tolerable to look at, especially if the various user mods such as Rebirth and SHTUP are applied. I have played through this game over 4 times - and can see myself playing it again sometime in the future. Even the final time that I played through it, I learned a little more about the characters involved, and I must say it gets better each time because of that.
One thing that shouldn't be missed is the co-op mode. It's quite a pain to set up, but to run around the Von Braun with friends is just amazing.

Better than Bioshock? Probably
Before he rocked the world with BioShock, developer Ken Levine worked on this groundbreaking survival-horror shooter for the PC. It's extremely similar to BioShock: you're trapped on a doomed spaceship and must fight off the infected crewmembers while hoarding supplies and ammo and upgrading your abilities. Where System Shock II excels is its mastery of horror -- there's never been a scarier game. That's partly due to the amazing storyline and characters, and partly due to the skin-crawling audio design. If you enjoyed BioShock, you absolutely, positively have to play this (though expect to buy it off eBay). A real, honest classic in every way. I've played it through at least 4 times and it still creeps me out!

Back to scare you again
How long has it been since you lost yourself in a game? If you are a fan of deep story, atmosphere, action and role playing then this is your game. While I won't explain much on the story, I can say that it's very well done, even though the plot seems simple, you will gradually find more meat than you ever expected. The atmosphere of the game is truly remarkable, these levels were designed to reflect real surroundings, you'll find food shops, movie theatres and many other things that most normal games would leave out. The ship is so well designed that it's believable that some may look like it in the future. The sound also adds to the feeling, to hear a mutant crawling in the next room when you have no weapons is a truly frightening sensation. As for gameplay, the basic premise is a First Person Shooter that uses RPG inventory system and statistics. Want to hack that computer? hope you invested in that hack skill a while back. Controls you ask? SS2 delivers a massive amount of control in a minimum amout of confusion. Almost everything has both a hotkey and a button on the inventory screen, and if you do run across a problem help is literally a click away. While there is not much of a replay value, this game is Massive, I can't remember the amount of hours I lost to this game. Overall, if you can get by the difficulty factor, SS2 is an experience like no other. (Not even Dues Ex)

System Shock II
Plague against the machine - System Shock 2 inherits the strengths of the original-the cybernetic upgrades, wide variety of weapons and equipment, constantly moving plotline, and fully realized environments full of alien enemies-and jacks it up with an updated version of the engine used in Thief: The Dark Project.
