Peter Jackson's King Kong - GameCube

Is This Movie Game Any Different From The Others?

The Good: Exciting and suspensful gameplay; nice variety of creatures and dinosaurs; Beautiful and life-like envoiroments; Great cinematic feel makes it as though you're really part of the action; Jack Black and co. have all lended their voices and likeness minus Adrian Brody (Thank God!); Kong kicks *** The Bad: 6 hours of gameplay!; can be finished in roughly one sitting; The New York part doesn't feel like a living, breathing city; limited variety of weapons; there's only about 4 Kong sequences ;bugs sometimes get into the way of gameplay Peter Jackson's King Kong The Official Game Of The Movie (yeah, that's the real title) is a movie game that is based on..... well King Kong. But this one is different, this would have gone down as one of the greatest movie games of all time..... but unfortunatly it's short. Like 6 hours short. I myself beat it in one sitting. But that aside, King Kong is still great. GAMEPLAY The gameplay in King Kong is basically your standard action FPS. But instead of just classic weapons, (such as a pistol or a shotgun) you have to make use of spears that are conveniatly situated around the island. This makes for an interesting twist instead of your standard run 'n gun gameplay, and can be used for many purposes. Such as lighting fires, or hooking bait. The game is entirely in FP, (not including the Kong sequences) and really gives the game a magical feel. It always feels like your really being chased by a T-Rex or you're the one jumping off that cliff just in time to get away. With that said, this has to be one of the most suspensful games ever created. There will be times that you will not believe that you got out of. Including being chased by 2 T-Rexes while you are stuck on a raft slowly drifting down the river. It's just amazing and really gets the adrenaline pumping. Graphics The graphics in King Kong are good. The creatures move with intriguing realism and they look good doing it too. The highlights though are Kong, and the V-Rex (or T-Rex, it's known as a V-rex in the game) it's amazing to look up and see those sharp bloody teeth and disgusting saliva falling down on you as you stare that T-Rex in the eye. Kong looks amazing when you view him a Jack, he's just so huge that you can't help but stare at him. Sound The sound in King Kong is excellent. All the charcters that are featured in the game are voiced by their movie counter-part. So yes, high profile actors like Jack Black are featured in the game. (and so is Adrian Brody, but that is just retarded to have a sissy girl like Adrian Brody being some kind of Hard *** in the game! WTF? Jack Driscoll might as well be played by Michael Jackson. At least he could bust out a few moves as he speared a bat, or was eaten by a T-Rex!) Value The value in King Kong is unfortunatly it's low point. As I mentioned before, King Kong can be finished in roughly 6 hours. And the average player will finish it in 1-3 sittings. Talk about lame. Although it does have a scoring system that is activated after the first completion of the game, in which the game keeps track of your score, then gives you a code that you can input on the official website and see how you stack up against players around the world. Overall, King Kong is one of the best movie games to date. It is a very suspensful and action filled game that is basically finished as soon as it starts. But length aside, King Kong is a very solid game that fans of the movie and action gamers alike should be sure to check out.
