Ikaruga - GameCube

The best shmup I've ever played!

This game is extremely hard to find due to only recieving a limited number of games into the U.S. When I popped in the disc into my Wii, I was like, "HOLY CRAP!! THIS IS AWESOME!!" The game allows you to switch shields depending on the color of shots enemies are throwing at you. Like the blue shield absorbs blue shots and the black shield absorbs black shots. Once you absorbed enough amount of shots, you can deliver pain via homing missiles. THIS GAME IS EXTREMELY HARD!! But thats what makes it so fun. If you can find this preciousness, I suggest you buy it as soon as you can.

HOLY SH*T! THIS GAME IS HARD!

This game is insanely difficult by design. How difficult you may ask? So feaking difficult that on the easiest difficultly, you still won't beat the game until about your 50th try. You may think you have what it takes to beat this game but in order to triumph, you have to memerize the patterns of enemies and that will make some gamers looking for a easy ride turn away in disgust. The game is really short too, about an hour is all it needs to beat it, but the replay comes in trying to better your score or just trying to stay alive. The graphics are awesome, things flow with no slowdown and everything has smooth movement. The music is awesome, it fits the game perfectly and gets into the different moods with ease. Control is perfect and responsive and you can customize it anyway you want. This game has first rate production values but should only be purchased by hardcore gamers, because those were the people that the developers had in mind when they made it. I'd rent it anyways. Graphics: 4.5 Sound: 5.0 Control: 5.0 Gameplay: 4.5

The best shooter game up to date!

Okay, first off, this game is NOT for everyone. How tough is this game? Well, let's just say you won't beat it in your first try unless your a japanese arcade shooter master. But don't let these first few words fool you, cause it's still a great game. The graphics are so good that each level mixes it up with alot of intensity. The controls are easy, it's basically a one-two punch. The music is awesome as the first stage is a bit laid back. But as you get into the further stages, it becomes so much more intense. This game is ALL about intensity. But overall, I give it a perfect score because so addictive. You'll play it for weeks and weeks trying to gain the highest score and beat the game with 1 credit.

This game is frickin hard but worth it in the end.

well seeming this game got some good reviews i thought I'd go out and rent it. expecting it the same classic feel of the old school shooter. it seem alot like it but the challenge is crazy. u can only shoot enimies that are the same color as ur ship and u keep changing colors which can be hard ESPECIALLY ON BOSS BATTLES. but the sounds and music made me feel home with the old school classics, and the graphics were smooth and colorful and goregous. i did manage to beat the game within the time i rented, which was 2 nights. but the challenge practically makes up for it. if u plan on buying this game then i suggest that you rent like i did cause the challenge is hard even for a hardcore gamer like me.

Don't consider Ikaruga a shooter?consider it a measuring stick, a test of strength, something to differentiate the men from the boys.?
