Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee - GameCube

Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee

As a Godzilla fan since a little kid, this is the best one out there. This version is definitely better than the PS2 only because of the better graphic. There is nothing like contolling your favorite monster and battling in a fully destructable city. The scale and details are amazing. Now, they just need good story tie in; perhaps NEXT GEN?

good ole' generic brand fighting goodness...

There is really not much you can say about this game. A pretty simple control scheme and pretty darn good graphics for its time. I thought they could've just a bit better on the sound(It gets really repetitive). The picking up buildings feature was pretty cool, there is a cheat code you can use that enables you to pick up anything ex: the empire state building, N.Y. no problem. The lack of unlockables is a minus too and they should have included more characters like space godzilla or mothra as a playable character. Nevertheless if you want a good basic smash-n-bash then this is your game however true fighting game fans should stay away! -stoobert_8391

Feels like you are in the movies..

This is a great game, it actually makes you feel like you are in one of the old Godzilla movies, going around crashing through various cities, duking it out with other famous monsters. G:DAMM really gives the fighting/wrestling genre a breath of fresh air;here we have a game with a origanal fighting system and characters, and we havn't had a good monster fighting game since King of the Monsters and Primal Rage(which were quite some time ago). So to put it short, give G:DAMM a spin,it aint perfect, but it'll bring out the monster in you.

Multiplayer mayhem is the big draw here.

If you're playing games by yourself then Godzilla may not be the fighting game of choice for you. There's simply not enough depth or playable characters to justify the purchase unless you're collecting Godzilla stuff. In fact, one could say that the single-player mode is there simply to allow the owner to unlock all the stuff and gain skills to whip his friends in mulitplayer. But that argument falls apart once the multiplayer actually begins. While there are moves to be mastered, Godzilla is very easy to pick up and play. The ease of play and destructive mayhem translates into an unbeatable multiplayer experience that is a worthwhile addition to your GC library, provided you have 4 controllers. The sheer chaos of a 3+ player melee is an engaging (albeit mindless) experience where the best strategy is to hide among the wreckage and wait for an opportunity to throw a building into the mass of fighting monsters. With everything going on onscreen that's not too hard to pull off! Buildings are crushed, monsters scream and howl, and that sums up the appeal of this game. Shallow? Yes, but also quite satisfying as a party game. So get yourself a nice sound system, invite some friends over, and feel the walls of your game room shake.

King

Overall it's a fun game, but it doesn't have the replay value I think it should. With the limited number of monsters considering all of the monsters in TOHO's library of monstaers we only got about a fourth of the monsters to choose from. Also would have liked a little more in cities, but what is there is really fun and easy enough for most to learn. Not as complex a fighter as the top of the fighting genre but with 4 players it is quite fun. For some only a rental others will want to buy.
