Summary

Game Description

Super Smash Bros. Melee for the GameCube is a four-player fighting game. Easy to pick up and play but extremely difficult to master, Super Smash Bros. Melee is more a party game. New to Melee is the ability to dodge attacks and projectiles. All characters can execute a mid-air dodge, or lean away from danger while standing on the ground. Also, you can catch most thrown items by pressing the A Button just before the object hits your fighter. All characters can execute a move similar to Fox's reflector shield by pressing the shield button just before a projectile hits.

I bought the GC for this game lol

I remember the day I bought a Gamecube. I was standing in front of the game cases and deciding if I should buy a Gamecube or Xbox. Nintendo and Sony had always been my 2 companies, so this newcomes, "Xbox" just didn't seem like it would be any good, as it was a nnew company and it didn't have any intriguing looking games other than Halo. I saw Super Smash Bros. Melee in the cas, and I new I had to go with the Gamecube.
Gameplay: The orignal Smash Bros. was my favorite N64 game and I played it like a madman for years. This game is in the same vein as the original, but with a roster that is twice as big as last time and waaaay more level and items/weapons. You basically picks between classic Nintendo characters such as Mario, Luigi, Star Fox, Donkey Kong, Captain Falcon, Link, ect. and fight. The whole idea is to knock your oppenent of of the stage by dealing damage. The higher their damage percentage, the farther they go flying when you hit them. It's fast, fun, and super addictive. You can also use various items that fall from the sky against yyour oppenent.
Graphics: The graphics in the game are great. All the classic characters are remodeled in all their 3D glory and are super detailed. As are the environments. This game is no slouch.
Sound: Lots of biffs and bams from attacks a well as tons of classic Nintendo theme songs.
Overall: Even if your not a fan of fighting games, you need to get this game. It is a blast to match classic characters against each other for the ultimate beatdown!

Super Smash Bros. Melee - GameCube

Not as great as everyone says it is

For the first few weeks I had this game, I worshipped it. I played it constantly, ignoring every other game I owned. After those weeks, I hated this game. I couldn't stand to play it. After you've unlocked everything, it's only remotely fun to play with other people, and even then, I get bored of it quickly. The event matches also are fun to replay every once in a while, but no where near fun enough to save this game from being one of the biggest disappoinments to me.

do i even have to say this? this game IS and always will be THE best game for the gamecube(aka the purple lunchbox). this game will keep you playing with your friends for hours maybe days if you have no life. this game has every thing you would want in a fighting game(except ryu, ken and Chuck Norris). this game is going to go down in history even when SSBB passes it up in the rankings.
