Summary

Game Description

Lux-Pain for the Nintendo DS features a unique adventure system where it is necessary to "extract" evil parasites by erasing on the bottom screen what you see on the top. Bizarre and paranormal murders have put Kisaragi City into a state of fear. A powerful mind parasite known as SILENT is spreading throughout the city. It infects humans and pushes them to perform horrendous acts by controlling their minds. Atsuki is a member of FORT, a secret organization devoted to eradicating this parasite. Dispatched to Kisaragi City as an undercover student, Atsuki has a special skill that can gain him the advantage against an invisible enemy: he can see SILENT.

Lux-Pain is a tough title to approach. Tough not in the sense that I had relatively high expectations or was personally let down by the title... to be completely honest, Lux-Pain's ambiguous nature may be one of its biggest advantages, as the convoluted story and unintelligible gameplay mechanics are sure to send jaded adventurers running for the hills. No, Lux-Pain is tough to approach because I had no clue what I was getting myself into upon booting this game up. So, now, after hours of wading through poorly translated text and occasionally scratching away at my DS' touch screen like an infected rash, I'm still just as confused as I was after the opening cinematic.
