Men, man your battlestations!
The Advance Wars series has come a long way, and has made a smooth transition from Game Boy Advance to the Nintendo DS with Advance Wars Dual Strike. Well, now that the next DS version has been out, it proves that series can keep going when you innovate in the right places. Advance Wars: Days of Ruin has undergone a few changes to the formula that the series has usually stuck by. First off, the art and mood of the game has been turned from anime-ish and fun loving to a little more serious, darker tone. For one thing, the game leads you to believe that all of the characters from the past games are dead, and you are trying to find salvation in a world decimated by meteors. Well enough with the story for now, because the most important, and addictive part of the Advance Wars series is the gameplay. Advance Wars Days of Ruin is a turn based strategy game that is simple, yet complex, and has undergone a few tweaks from the other games. The gameplay is less one sided; the developers have made the game a little more balanced, to make it more strategy oriented. This was done by limiting special powers and adding and subtracting units. This, and the addition of online play, are the two reason why I love this game so much. The game is very addictive, and calls for you to meticulously plan your moves, and take out the enemy, using tanks, battle ships, fighter jets...you name it. The sprites in the game are good, and the soundtrack is pretty good as well. There are numerous maps to play, and hundreds of hours to play in the game. Online matches are great, and there really isn't more you can ask for in a portable game.

A DS JEWL?
All of the Advance Wars games have had great campaign story lines. Yet a few faults. I myself think you should be able to build building. This new addition should tell us if Intellignet System and Nintendo can get the best of the DS. I wonder if they are going twords or away from fame and history.

Advance Wars - Days Of Ruin User Review
This game is simply amazing. Compared to the first one...it's just. So wow, I can't really say what it is. The first one was great...but this is just AWESOME! Graphics are one thing on the DS, and besides...who cares THAT much about them? It's still the same over-the-top view when your planning out your strategy and what to do next. Actually...that's technically what it looks like throughout the whole game. The only part that isn't is when your having small chats between characters, than it looks something like Fire Emblem. They have definitely made the plot/story way more interesting. The world is in a disastrous state. Meteors hit, and now crazy ex-soldiers that lost all dignity starts roaming broken down cities to find survivors and raid them. Improving a second title in a series is always a factor. It is in any game, now that I think about it. They have improved so many things, it's just super plain awesome. Even when you capture buildings it's that much better. There's no more bullsh*t co-power. Now you have to put your CO onto any unit you'd like. Whether it'd be a foot soldier or battleship. If you put one on, it really makes a difference. Last, but not least! The music is far different that it was before. You can listen, (and probably download) to the tracks that they've included in the game. You've got to have excellent quality ear/headphones if you want to hear how great the tracks sound. They actually suit the characters...the scene. If you haven't got this game yet for your DS...what the hell are you thinking? GO PICK IT UP RIGHT NOW!! Unless of course they're all sold out in your area...or you just don't like strategy games. In the end, Advance Wars: DOR is another super awesome chocolate covered, fudge coated, super game added to the DS' library.
