Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker - DS

dragon quest monsters: joker is a welcome addition to the series

dragon quest monsters: joker may not be the best dragon quest game around but it's still a welcome addition to the dragon quest franchise. even though the dragon quest monsters series is a pokemon wannabe, it's the only series that is actually a good pokemon wannabe, and dragon quest monsters: joker is no exception. i found this game to be very fun. i liked the battle system which reminded me a lot of the monster arena side quest battle system from dragon quest 8. even though the storyline isn't the greatest, it's still pretty good. in my opinion that's what sets dragon quest monsters away from other pokemon wannabes is that it has a more complex storyline than the rest of them. it may even have a better storyline than the pokemon games themselves. like i said, it's not as good as the pokemon games and it's certainly not the best dragon quest game in the series but it's still very fun and is a welcome addition to not just the dragon quest franchise, but to the nintendo ds library of games.

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker - DS

Dragonquest.... yet not Dragonquest

Dragonquest monsters: Joker is an RPG like all the other Dragonquest games, but it is different in a way. Instead of it being a Medieval type game, it's pretty modern. For instance: it has elevators, some people are wearing tuxeados, and there are also medical labs for the monsters just like in the Pokemon games. Altogether a rip-off of Pokemon with the monsters from the Dragonquest games but furthermore a fun RPG must have.

Dragon Quest Joker: a Quest in Review

Along the years, many games have tried to mimic the simple game play of the Pokemon series. While Most downright sucked DQM has always stood strong against the juggernaut. As you start the game you find out you need to battle in a tournament & are given a choice of 3 monsters to carry out tasks on islands while getting a crew of stronger monsters to join you. This is as close to Pokemon as it gets folks. You start breeding/synthesizing monsters, because unlike the giant these monsters do not evolve. The game graphically is one of the best on the DS, Only second to Dementium: The Ward. The problem here is sound quality... It kinda sucks. The sound effects are kinda blah and the music is catchy but a tad generic. The story is great but short. most of your time will be spent gathering new monsters to destroy the competition and synthing new monsters to get the most out of your time.Another con is the game is on the expensive side. It should have only cost 30-35 dollars but SEI thought they could get 40 out of it which is I guess the norm for SE games. But when your game is short dont try to steal my money k SEI? All & all it is a new Monsters game, and if you are reading this you most likely know what you are in for and will love it. Just dont go in to it expecting it to be as long as Pokemon & we'll be ok. 4/5

In Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker, you play as a young man with an enormous chip on his shoulder--though it's understandable considering that in his case, being grounded means being hurled in a dungeon for ten days.
