LostMagic - DS

Truly innovative

When I first got my DS, there were a few games I was excited about. Sure there was anything from the Mario house, then there was Trauma center, but curiously enough, a very obscure title caught my eye, this was Lost Magic. So let's break it down: Gameplay: This is exactly what the founding principles of the DS, and Nintendo in general were, Innovation. You go around fighting and capturing monsters, while learning new spells. But when you learn these new spells, you don't simply use them, you have to draw them out, in one of 18 runes. Then you don't stop there, no, because you can combine the runes, into super spells. So you become this mega magician, drawing up spells, with your army of monsters close behind. Sound Standard RPG fair here. Nothing really interesting. Normal sound effects, I just leave it on mute to be honest. Controls: Work sepctacularly. You draw up the runes with the Stylus, and you move the characters all on the bottom screen. In fact the top screen isn't used for very much other than stats, and map. Conclusion? Superb game. I totally dig this title. And I suggest it to anyone who's looking for something turly different. Final words? Truly innovative. (Cheers.)
