  • Does game reviews influence your game purchases?

I usually go by what the reviewers say, but I bought Dark Sector even though it go so-so reviews and I really like the game so far. It plays a lot like Gears of War too me. The game is $20 brand new so you can't go wrong... lol.

No I buy games regardless I will be the judge of my own purchase, if I went by what reviews said I wouldnt of ever got to play final fantasy tactics.

A little, I won't buy a game that gets less than a 6 (3 on GP scale). I pick and choose between games that get higher than that and get ones that I think I'll enjoy. I won't buy a game just because it gets a good score. It has to sound like something I would enjoy.

A bit. But most games that I buy are pretty much guaranteed to be good, and I know that before I read reviews. but yes, reviews help a lot.

got good and bad reviews back then, some people said to me it sucked, then I told them to actually play it, someone even wanted to trade me dragonforce for sega saturn for the game.

Yeah sometimes I base my purchase on review but some review just leave me amazed like stupid games get good reviews like Advance Wars Days of Ruin. But somethimes good games like Phantom Hourglass get the recognition they deserve.

It did, it got pretty massive reviews in every magazine I read, and is still brought up occasionally and praised now.

I would say they do, to a degree. I like to read several to really see what the game is going to be about and see if there are any similar complaints (so I know what I'm getting into). However, there are quite a few games I have that I knew I'd like just based on the genre (2D shooters primarily), and others that simply intrigued me because of their premise (Ribbit King comes to mind).

However, I've found that what people often take as a "bad" review (usually anything lower than an 8) doesn't necessarily reflect on the enjoyability of a game. Take Road Trip (PS2) for example; it didn't rank that high due to its more simple and cartoony graphics, but the gameplay was solid and the premise was neat (a "CarPG" as I remember reading). So yeah, take reviews with a grain of salt, and ultimately decide for yourself.

I can't wait 'til I'm old enough to feel ways about stuff.
