Then buy Megaman 9 when it comes to the Arcade/PSN/Wiiware.

The Belmont clan's next legacy may possibly return to its roots, as Castlevania producer Koji Igarashi said to Wired that he is currently observing Capcom's classic take on Mega Man 9. "I'm watching [Mega Man 9> very closely to see how it does," said Igarashi. "I'm a big retro gaming fan, so if it is successful that definitely opens up doors for what I can do."

The original Castlevania for the NES was released back in 1987. The staple title featured a unique take on the nocturnal tale of Dracula, along with some classic monsters such as Frankenstein, Medusa and more. Gamers around the world are also familiar with its timeless tune (c'mon, you know you can hum the soundtrack to the first level).

Just like Mega Man, the classic Castlevania is a huge hit to retro gamers and it opened up to other masterpieces, such as Alucard's tale in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for the PS One that was released in 1997 - a decade after its founder. Ever since Symphony, Castlevania games have been changed to a more Super Metroid take where RPG elements are mixed in with awesome 2D action. It's not like Castlevania needed a retro take, but that's what we thought until we played Mega Man 9 - nostalgia can be a persuading factor. Check out our hands on demo of Mega Man 9.

I will have MegaMan 9 immediately upon a release and if they bring us a 2D side scrolling Castlevania, I'm there. Those are the games I grew up playing and I will always hold a "soft spot" for the classic side scrolling adventure.

It probably won't sell that well, but I'm all for the old Castlevania games as well as the new Super Metroid ones too.

In fact, the last classic playing CV game released was Chronicles on the PS1, but that was technically just a port of I think the MSX version. Or was it the PC engine? I don't remember.

Whenever I hear the word "Castlevania" I think of the OG NES version one.

Oh hell yeah, games are in need of a real throwback right now. Poor rehash's of games just don't work, look at all those games made for XBLA functionality. Screw that, don't mess with a classic, give us something new.
