what is it that catches your attention to a new game before it's released? is it the hype about it or the people's excitement?

Character design and the overall premise.

if it looks cool and if very antipactied game

Graphics, usually, or a preview of particularly innovative gameplay -- especially if it's a puzzle-solver.

But, yeah. Graphics are a definite eye-catcher for me, or a turn off if they're lame or jarring.

reviews get me a lot. I wasnt even going to buy mgs4 until I read the gp review. Unlike movie reviews (which blow) gaming reviews tend to be on point.

dang forgot abbout reviews

i dont go off of what i think always, about 30% of the time if someone recommends that i should get this new game i will and i will try it. but if i dont like it then i just never trust that friend with a horrible taste of gaming

Amount of content is big part of it, if a game looks like it'll only be fun for a few days, then I won't look twice.

graphics and gameplay for me

I tend to overhype games for myself sometimes (eye of judgement). I usually try and wait a week before buying a new game to let the heat cool down to see if I really want to buy it. I probably have doomed myself to buy Little big planet. Its that damn song. It's too catchy.
