  • True Story- 2 360s and a Wii.... RIP

Post a Reply

Disclaimer: Look, I own 2 Xbox 360s and a Wii to go with my PS3, so I dont exactly qualify as a Sony fanboy.

In the matter of 2 weeks I have officially lost both (yeah, both) of my 360s to the RROD. Im still waiting on the coffins. This is the 1st offense of my newest Xbox, the 2nd for my original. As if that wasnt enough, the powers that be chose to have my Wii malfunction about 20 minutes ago. Mario Kart wont insert into the DVD tray.... just 'click, click, click, click' :(

On the upside, the PS3 is still going strong. Of course, it has the least amount of games in my library. That will be changing. I have owned many consoles in my life and I have never had a single problem with any of them (outside from having to use the 'rubbing alcohol trick' on my original NES). At the end of the day, my PS3 purchase is looking mighty smart right now. I cant say the same to the other 3 systems, sadly. I probably wont even get to play ANY games until the other consoles return. My kids are going to be like flys on sh*t to the final gaming device in my entire home (not counting our PSP, Im the only one to touch that in this whole year, lol)

Witht he Wii, just call there customer service, say it is something that cannot be fixed in store. Ask for an :Advanced Replacment" They will send you a brand new Wii, with packaging for the old one, packt he old one up and send it back in when the new Wii gets there and there you go.

I did it because my Wii was making some noises I didn't like, I got a new one in less then a week, packaged it up in the pre-paid packaging to send it back.

I love Nintendo's Customer service. Very nice and they spoke perfect ENGLISH

Thats good to hear in case my Wii fails on me. How does the warranty work? Do you just read them your serial number? I got mine right after X-mas and I'm wondering what I'll need to do in case of hardware malfuntion. I don't really have any proof of purchase, just the box it came in.

Sorry to hear about your lose Lastdon. Hopefully your kids won't destroy your PS3 before your other systems return.

First immediatly go register it on Nintendo.com That way you get an extended warrenty on it. If it does fail for whatever reason (unlikly but things happen) Just call them. They will ask if you registered and you say yes and they ask you a couple of questions to confirm you. Then they will ask for your serial number. They will give you two choices.

One is send in your Wii, they will repair then one you have and send it back, could take three weeks they said.

Two is the advanced replacement. You give them a Credit Card number. They send you a new Wii, transfer the information from your Wii to a SD card, and back to the new Wii (Crappy but hey it works) Send it in the pre-paid packaging and label that comes with the new Wii. If you send it back within two weeks of getting the new Wii they will not charge you, fail to do so and they will charge you 208, the cost of the Wii Core, since you will now have to.

The lady was great, very nice, and didn't tryt o sell me other crap to do, was like lets get that fixed right away. Had my new Wii set to come in less then 15 minutes on the phone. WAM BAM THANK YOU MA'AM

I have a launch 360 and I bought it on E-Bay no less! I have had no problems since day one, but I have friends and family who have gone through three or more 360's in less than a year. I pray to the gaming gods every day that my 360 won't crap out. Also it seems that most of the problems are heat related. I keep my system in my basement which is always cooler than the rest of the house and that it is away from any equipment that causes heat.

What kind of 360 is the newest one?

Your a thousand miles from me; you're far from perfection

Awesome thanks. I've been meaning to register my Wii but I keep forgetting.

I've always wondered if its possible to transfer dowloads from an old Wii to a new one if neccessary. Good thing my hundred or so amount of V.C. and WiiWare won't be wasted.

Yeah, they were quite good to me. I have an "advanced replacement" en route. I am satisfied!
