I thought to make this just for the kicks of it (and fanboy bragging rights lol) but how about if we, the gp members (staff can pick also) select OUR game of the year? what do you think?...I was thinking in letting each member to post 5 nominees(just once) and in an specific date to close the nominees posting and based on vote count to pick the highest 5 then move on to the selection of GOTY (each member gets to vote just one time for 1 game among the 5 nominees).

rules: each member gets to post his 5 nominees just once (games of any console and that were released during this year or are going to be released during it). the selection of the 5 nominees is going to be simply by vote count and it's going to be closed November 30. Then each member will be able to vote for 3 of the 5 nominees in no particular order just once, and the voting will be closed one week after.

Anyway my GOTY nominee is Call of Duty 4.

Halo 3 and Bioshock can't touch this game. i didn't think Bioshock was all that great though. In my opinion it didn't deserve a 10. Anything that lacks multiplayer should automatically lose a full point. Halo 3 was good, but the graphics are subpar (the marines look awful) and it feels more like Halo 2.5 that Halo 3. A fun game, but not groundbreaking.

I think Ratchet and COD4 deserve high spots (if not the top 2). Sadly, Halo 3 will probably win. It might be a great game, but I don't think it deserves the top spot.
