You do not describe men, you describe the assholes who women hate.
actually i have noticed that women go after these types of men. They ont like to be toyed with. They want sex just as much as guys do. And as long as she knows her man lies she can be all pms at him whenever she wants. This goes away after you get past like 30 and then people start settling down with non assholes.

Most guys tend to be blunt compared to women (generally speaking).
It could be that he is afraid that you may not want to be with him because he hangs out with another girl as a friend. It's an awkward situation indeed, but a relationship cannot last unless there is trust.
I must admit that it does sound suspicious, but if he's a half decent person, he probably hasn't done anything except hang out with her as friends.
