With all of the fuss about which platform is the "best" and whatnot, I decided to do some deep research. While the Nintendo Wii is far and away the monthly sales hog, neither Sony nor Microsoft are doing too bad. With the Wii being just shy of the global Xbox 360 sales, and being released a year later, it seems to be heading in the right direction to be the winner of this war. Ok, so the Xbox 360 has shipped a total of 11-12 mllion units thus far, but has sold around 10 million of those units. The PLAYSTATION 3 has shipped 7 million units, and according to Sony, has sold 6 million units world wide. With the PS3 being shipped a year after the Xbox 360 also, it ain't doing too bad, considering it's high price tag. The recent "price drop" of the 60GB configuration has boosted sales substantially. The PS3 has just passed the 1 million mark in Japan, but is being outsold by the Wii in ratios as high as 6:1. Both the PS3 and Wii are selling far better than the Xbox 360 in Japan, but with releases like Blue Dragon, and the upcoming Lost Odyssey, Microsoft hopes for a larger market share in Japan. While it's difficult to forecast who will win this console war, we can all be assured that each platform will be a success in it's own right. In my opinion, the mad Wii rush will abruptly stop in the coming months. With it's inability to play DVD's, put out High Definition images, and lack of hardware muscle, I don't see the Wii lasting very long. Sure it's a blast to play, and while you might not want to admit it, graphics and technology are very helpful in moving systems through the retail market. I, along with many others, prefere gameplay to graphics, but ever notice how people always want to own the best looking game on the market? the Xbox 360 isn't doing much better than the original Xbox, but with blockbuster titles like Halo 3, BioShock and Mass Effect on the horizon, sales are sure to increase. Along with the Xbox 360, I expect the other consoles' sales figures to increase. The PS3 is looking at games like Heavenly Sword, Lair, and Killzone, all of which are receiving note worthy industry attention. For the Wii, games like Super Smash Bros. Braw, Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, and Super Mario Galaxy, are all ong time fan favorites. I wish the best to all the platforms and what they plan to bring to the industry. Can't we all just be glad we are gamers and just love what they are, for what they are? I don't know about you, but I'd much rather be labeled a gamer than a fanboy of my "favorite platform". I sure hope the Pc games like Crysis and Hellgate: London are good, they sure look promising. thanks for the read!

Ok....now what?

I hate how people automatically assume that since "console" has good graphics it has poor gameplay. Whatever. Gears of War and the 2k Sports games show that games can look tight and play great.

Two things are incorrect in that speech. One is that the Wii is outselling all of the systems and has surpassed the 360 by a longshot. Two is that if the 360's sales are high it's just because their systems broke and they had to buy new ones. Plus considdering the latest gamepro pole, 32 percent of people have had their system break down on them at least once and half of them were two or more times. If 1/3 of peoples systems break down so they have to buy new ones of course they might appear to be ahead. Take that away they only sold systems to around 6.6 million people. Who's ahead now?

Mine broke twice. I didn't buy a new one. I got it fixed for free with my warranty. Stop being ignorant.
