A few misconceptions there. First off, the goals today weren't the goalie's fault at all. On one Reyna was flat out stripped and the guy w/ the ball had basically a one on one w/ the goalie. The second was a penalty kick on pretty questionable call. The other thing that's wrong w/ your statement is that the US was "lucky" to tie Italy. No Italy was LUCKY to tie the US. Every account I read of the game said that the US played better and deserved to win. Heck they played most of the 2nd half with 9 players. They were unfortunate not to get a W vs Italy (and remember they had one goal that was waved off). I'm not saying the US played great or even deserved to advance but your criticisms are off base. It seemed to me (a casual soccer fan at best) that the US was done in by A) a gap in talent B) questionable calls and C) pure bad luck. They didn't play overly well but a break here and there and they could have beaten Italy and at least tied Ghana (the PK should have never been called so at worst it should have been 1-1).
