  • Wii in 2010, has Nintendo finally turned it up again?

Even a Nintendo die hard like me has to admit that 2009 was a pretty bad year for the Wii overall, as was the second half of 2008. What's odd is that 3rd parties have been stronger, but Nintendo themselves have slacked.. The notable 1st and 2nd party games that have come out since Mario Kart Wii in the first half of 08 have been.. Animal Crossing Wii, Wii Music *cringe*, Wii Fit +, and Wii Sports Resort... Yeah pretty weak compared to the months prior. It is true Nintendo is a smaller company compared to the Sony and MS juggernauts, but that's really not an excuse to go months on end without any compelling 1st party software when you have a userbase of 55 million gamers looking for new software.

The good news is it looks like Nintendo is finally waking up to this notice of this (3rd parties too), because 2010 is looking to have a stronger lineup of games. We already have:

Mario Galaxy 2, Metroid Other M, No More Heroes 2, Red Steel 2, Epic Mickey, Final Fantasy Crystal Bearers, Tales of Graces, Monster Hunter 3, Fragile, The Grinder, Sin and Punishment 2, Pikmin 3, (maybe), Zelda Wii (maybe but doubtful)

Though they still need to throw in a few more big hits, it definitely looks like an improvement over 2009. If Nintendo REALLY wants to regain the momentum of the Wii, the key is to make more content-rich games that are WORTH $50, and that take advantage of the various control peripherals like the balance board and Wii Motion +. For example, why not make an entirely new adventure or platformer that fully utilizes motion plus? Or some new racing games that give people more intensive to buy a Wii Wheel? How about a good unique FPS? Or an RTS game that really shows off the precise ir? nintendo is simply not using the Wii to its full potential.

They also need to use some of their known franchises.. Where are the classics like Star Fox, Pilot Wings, Kirby, and Donkey Kong? Finally, they need more of an effort to secure more AAA third party games, and maybe work with them on some games. If Nintendo follows these main points, Wii will be a force to be reckoned with going into 2010. If not, they will continue to lose momentum. But so far things are looking better.

What's your take on Wii going into 2010? Looking better? Worse? Nintendo doomed? TeH Casualz??

The self proclaimed HD console "Hardcore" are the Biggest Hypocrites Ever. They constantly act like their so damn superior to Wii gamers, yet they get their panties in a bunch when the PC gamers act superior to THEM.

zelda aint coming in 2010 its already confirmed sadly

anyway im looking forward to mario galaxy 2 and tales of graces if the damn controls work good this time

damn right it does.

I'm liking the lineup so far. But fortunately, Zelda Wii won't be coming out 2010, early to mid 2011 will do.
