Really, wow and why...These are words that come to mind besides a few others. I don't get what he has done to win such an award. Hell why don't we give anyone an Nobel Peace Prize. Shit I always try to help when there is conflict among people I know.

I can talk about peace all I want but will that give me the chance to win a Nobel Peace Prize? I think not. Words are words and actions are greater then words.

OSLO – President Barack Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize on Friday in a stunning decision designed to encourage his initiatives to reduce nuclear arms, ease tensions with the Muslim world and stress diplomacy and cooperation rather than unilateralism.

Nobel observers were shocked by the unexpected choice so early in the Obama presidency, which began less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline.

White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said Obama woke up to the news a little before 6 a.m. EDT. The White House had no immediate comment on the announcement, which took the administration by surprise.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee lauded the change in global mood wrought by Obama's calls for peace and cooperation but recognized initiatives that have yet to bear fruit: reducing the world stock of nuclear arms, easing American conflicts with Muslim nations and strengthening the U.S. role in combating climate change.

"Only very rarely has a person to the same extent as Obama captured the world's attention and given its people hope for a better future," said Thorbjoern Jagland, chairman of the Nobel Committee.

He's won it because he's been spending so much effort trying to reestablish the relationships between the US and all the countries BUSH and the Republicans FUCKED up. You guys do know that under the Bush administration, the US was the laughing stock of the globe due to our fearless leaders reluctance to keep peace with countries who refused to help finish his daddy's war. Bush and his cronies left Obama a mess that he will not be able to fix in one term, and judging by all the racist negativity he's getting, (yeah, tell me you don't like him because he's a Democrat) no one want's him to fix anything.

It amazes me how so many people were so stupid to fall for Bush's fuck ups that they still think he did a great job. Obama's first year has been spent trying to fix Bush's mistakes, and apparently, people with a slight hint of common sense felt he deserved the Nobel Peace Prize for ignoring the racism, negativity, and the idiotic comments by people who have no idea what he's going through.

But here's a question, why do you say Obama doesn't deserve it for trying to make peace with other countries, yet you don't question the fact that Einstein got it for creating the formula for the atomic bomb?

So he won the Nobel Peace Prize for not being Bush? I don't think you understand how this thing works. The problem with this award going to Obama is that he hasn't done anything yet, it's way to early. He has a bunch of nice ideas but until they actually prove to be effective this award is useless and unearned. If anything is a stunt by Norway to get a visit from the President. I like Obama as much as the next guy, I voted for him, but please tell me you are NOT delusional enough to think this was earned already. Also, Einstein won the Nobel Prize for Physics, not the Peace Prize.

As far as Obama, you guys keep saying he hasn't done anything. It took Clinton a full term and a half to fix what Bush Sr. fucked up. DO you honestly think you will see any change in an 8 year cluster fuck fixed in 1 year? Really? It took Bush 8 years to destroy the American economy, and destroy the little respect the rest of the world had for us,and you want Obama to fix it in less than a year? This is why he will fail. None of these right wing idiots want him to succeed. He lobbied for the Olympics on American soil to help boost our economy even further, and those idiots cheered when we didn't get it. What they fail to realize is that the year he was pushing for, he would be on his way out IF he was voted back in a second term. So without knowing, they cheered the move that could have helped a different President.

Obama has a very impressive peace agenda, all I'm saying is they should have waited a few years to see what it entails. I know that he couldn't reverse all the backwards shit from the Bush era in a year, and that's why they should have waited. The award was based on vision and not action.
