  • Any Programmers/Indie developers on the site?

Post a Reply

Hello to all, I haven't logged on in several months, but wanted to check by the old site. I've been on here for probably 3 to 4 years now, but never really created this thread. Does anybody on here program at all? I'm very experienced with Java and decent and getting much better with C++. Most engines use C++ and I've created a few Java games.

I'm working on a RPG possibly MMORPG if I can get the networking right for the computer. It's not going to have astonishing graphics, but just some basic stuff. I'm going to implement leveling for your character and some customization.

Anyone else just stop by here and talk about programming in general and new technologies also post any projects you or friends are working on.

EDIT: I may have just found a engine that produces Oblivion-esque graphics for a decent price and can transfer game to a xbox 360 disc :D

MKDR is the coolest. Bossiii gets hit by his girl, LMAO!!!

Cool.^^^^ I'm doing what I can to put together anything to show I have what it takes to make a game. Right now, I'm just working on some animations but most of my time is being consumed by work and a single set animation can take up to a month, for me at least, depending on what it is.

Well, actually GamePro has opened up a new indie publishing arm called GamePro Labs. A select few developers (or groups of developers) per year are chosen and their game get published, advertised and sold by GamePro... I'm a developer for Wraith Games, one of the eight chosen this year. You can get to our developer profile by clicking on my avatar. There are actually quite a few designers among the GP community, you just have to know where to look!

Wraith Games - Play Harder!

this isnt actually a gaming programming language but im very good with microsoft visual....ive made a few games from it, only little arcade games though

War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself.

Not gaming, but web development and business programming. My main language is .NET but also have experience with Javascript, Java, and Rails.

Do you guys use Blender for your animations? I'm thinking about experimenting with it just for fun.

I've made a few games but mostly from the art aspects. I used 3D studio max most of my time with Terminal Reality (Blood Rayne/Ghostbusters)...I've done a homebrew game for Dreamcast. I wish I knew more about programming but it's really tough for me to stay focused on it. I know enough C++ to make 16 bit side scrollers and not much else.

That put a smile on my face. :) I'm just by myself for now. I had a team in mind but things didn't go as planned. Plus they are venturing into different IP's than I am. As for your question, I've never heard of Blender. I use GameMaker which allows the developer a ton of freedom thanks to some pre-rendered coding. I'm basically just trying to make my own sprites the best that I can using very minimal resources.

yeah i saw gamepro labs pretty awesome if you ask me and yeah i thought the wraith games were pretty cool man. i have some friends and I think we may try something a little less complex but be more creative. kinda like an xbox live arcade game. I think there is some way to get your game on there and make no money but if you get some many downloads then MS will give you some (very little) profit.

Pretty cool. I've been doing Java for a few years now, but trying C++ on my own is a little harder.

I am all about the 3D Art aspect of games. You can see one of my scenes in my sig there. I am currently working with the Unreal Engine making mods and levels and I am also workin with some of my buddies that I went to school with on making a couple survival levels for L4D as well as a campaign level. I specialize in environments and props and use Maya and ZBrush for modeling, and Photoshop for my textures.

You can check out my website if you want to see some more of my work.
