This is a very interesting question. I can't see the logic behind it. Sony says they want to profit on every PS3 sold even if that means slow sales. Yet we know Sony profits on the PS2. In the overall picture Sony was recouping profits on the PS2 to offset their losses on the PS3. So, who cares which console they discount. Right? It would be the same in the end anyway. They could have discounted the PS3 the same amount. Why wouldn't they do that? Is Sony really hurting?
