  • Sports Video Games - Worth Playing, or get your butt outside and play for real?

Post a Reply

I haven't purchased a sports video game in a long time, and I don't plan to ever again. There are enough sports to play outside year round to keep me from ever wanting to sit in my house and mash buttons when I could go outside and play the sport myself. Now I know for some people out there, they aren't able to play any sports because of physical reasons - but for the reason of us, is it worth playing sports games or should we get away from the games for a while and get some fresh air?

Unless it is skating or has to to with snowboarding/skiing (and you don't live near mountains with enough snow), go out and play the sports for real.

I never buy sports games. I am not in high school anymore, either, so my days of high school sports are at an end as well. lol I could play something every once in awhile with some friends, but overall, it's kind of difficult for me to go out and actually play the real thing as far as an actual game goes. Now, I could easily go shoot around a basketball or throw a football back and forth with a friend, but it isn't actually playing the sport.

I would say that with the many games for the Wii that are sports related or require you to use a lot of movement (Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Tiger Woods We Play etc.) you get the same amount of a work out as you would if you went out and play the actual sports...I feel that I do when I play any way.

You're fat and its your fault!!! | So the other day I was playing Yoville on facebook and SHO was a neighbour of mine...so I go and visit him at his apartment and we start kissing and then I take him to the bedroom I hop into his bed and he starts freaking out...it was fucking hilarious...LUV U SHO!!!

NBA 2k9 is fun. It's just as good as any shooter out there.

How about everyone put down COD4 and Halo 3 and come fight me in PAINTBALL!

they're only good to watch other people play in my opinion. those are the kinds of games that do need multi-player. playing by yourself seems boring to me.

Both...
You've got 24 hours in a day, use them.

Sure, you could go out and play a sport, but not everyone wants to get dirty and sweaty all the time, whereas you can do so virtually in your home any time you want. Getting together with friends to play is generally easier online, as well. There's no driving to meet up, worrying if the field at the park is vacant, and so on. Not to mention with sports like bowling and golf, you save a lot of money in the long run by playing the virtual versions of the sports that otherwise require money to play.

I play an online baseball game called MLB Dugout Heroes (NO LINKS FOR YOU) and the best part is I didn't have to pay for it. Its an F2P game recently launched by the same guys at GamesCampus.com who have an online golf game called Shot Online (NO LINKS FOR YOU) which has over 2 million golfers worldwide. They recently launched another free to play game called Cue Online (NO LINKS FOR YOU) which looks like a 3D online billiard game with a lot of different pool games like 9 Ball and so forth.
