  • Planning to get a laptop in a couple of months, can you help me through the process?

Post a Reply

I don't want a gaming laptop or build it. I just want a ready one I can use to watch movies, use for everyday things, and has long battery life. One that has a nice screen resolution and has a sleek design. I'm not really that great with computer buying, so I could hope some of you guys might help me out.

And please, if you're just going to come in the thread and start spewing crap like "You don't need a sleek design" or "build it yourself" just don't bother posting.

I was looking at this Asus Is Asus a good brand?

"Build", as in Physically build it.

ok ok, Asus is ok, good for the price

If I were you I'd go with a HP since they make damn good computers/laptops.

I had an HP desktop, and it's been great to me for 6 years.

But, which laptop? I don't trust salesmen!

HP Pavilion dv7t series

Go their website and check em out

Get at least a quad-core, 4gb of ram, and a great video card. Make sure you get cutting edge stuff when buying laptops because they are typically harder to work on for noobs. Most of the time new hardware is more expensive too. Don't get the penny pincher processor either because you will regret it in less than a year I promise. Also, do yourself a favor and get Vista. People have been bitchinG about it, but it is WAY better than it used to be. Plus you'll be better prepared for the free upgrade to 7 you'll get when it comes out. There are also notebooks that have HD if you're into watching movies. Also, get a good soundcard and built in audio system. Blutooth headphones are nice too.

Yeah I've got a kick ass pavilion that I'm on right now. Hp carries a 1 year warranty as well.

Do you recommend a specific laptop or have one in mind? I only have the 1000 dollar limit
