I never noticed how frustrating the D-Pad was for the XBox 360 until I began playing fighting games. Unlike the PlayStation's controller, the 360's D-Pad has all directional buttons meshed together, so doing certain moves in fighting games is brutally difficult. I was playing Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe along with XBox Live Arcade's Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 and I'll be damn if I didn't break a sweat trying to do the fatalities, you press one button and it basically thinks you're pressing up and left at the same time, which completely throws off the move. I demand Microsoft to release a controller that has the directional buttons separated, the current way just won't cut it. Anyone else ever got pissed at this?

Yes, lot's of people.

Its pretty common knowledge that the 360's D-Pad blows.

Turn On, Tune In, Drop Out

oh yeah... the hot key thing on oblivion is damn near impossible to do on the fly because of the damn dpad... but thts just about the only flaw in the 360 controller...

"You find the line by crossing it."

You know it's funny. I know it sounds like a hassle but all the D-Pads on the 360's controller are different. Just like a lot of controllers. Take the 64's analog stick. Remember how some stayed tight after years and some were so loose they practically hung off the side of the controller? (Exaggerate) I just noticed that it really depends on the controller.

We're offered Mo-et, We don't mind Chivas, Wherever we go, We bring the monkey wit' us!

I wish it were more like the PlayStations according to directional buttons. Other than that it's a fine controller, but i cannot work with it's D-Pad. It always thinks you're pressing two buttons at once.

The 360's controller is brilliant and works great for every game that I have played EXCEPT for fighters.

I think the problem is that Nintendo and Sony both own the patents to "good" d-pads and MS just has to make do.

I guess I have to sink some money into a good arcade stick so that i can pull off Shoryukens on a regular basis

This user is completely without Sig... Sigless. Not at all Siggy wit' it. This is an ex-Sig.

Not true... MS has made some excellent d-pads in the past (Sidewinder) and (Xbox 1 Duke controller), but they just messed up on the 360's dpad plain & simple..

Hell, they should license Sega's awesome dpad from Genesis and Saturn, since Sega doesn't make hardware anymore

Even if Microsoft doesn't create an improved D-pad, I sure hope that a third party developer follows that and creates one like it.

Photobucket I forgot to polish the clocks!

I just looked on Gamestop, and all the "Official" Street Fighter controllers have D pads that look exactly like the 360's...PS3 and 360 controllers alike ...that's weird.
