  • Dumb move Microsoft! Little Big Planet...

...could have been multiplatform. I was at Gear Box today chit chatting with a friend of mine and they were discussing how
Media Molecule was looking to make Little Big Planet for both the 360 and PS3, but Microsoft would not allow user generated content over Xbox Live which force the developer to make it a PS3 exclusive. We all know that this...rule...has kept a lot of cool DLC from Xbox Live, but this is just STUPID!! On a monumental scale. I gave Sony shit about turning down Gears of War in favor of Dark Sector, but Microsoft let their strict standards get in the way of arguably the most innovative game this gen? Now Media Molecule has signed a 3 game exclusive with Sony which will all be new IPs.

Microsoft...STUPID!! STUPID!! STUPID!!

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest. I don't usually rant, but that had to be said.

1. Eminem 2. Royce 5'9" 3. Redman 4. Andre 3000 5. Scarface

Just get a PS3 and your life is complete.

yeah thats stupid..and why would sony turn downed gears of war for dark sector? thats stupid too...

And I knew about this. The guys who started MM used to actually work for Lionhead studios. Molyneux fired them, and they made their own studio and now their game LBP has scored higher than any of Molyneux's games.

MM also has a developing team of like 30 people. That is insane. So small.

Because at the time Gears was just an FPS. It wasn't a 3PS until later on in it's dev cycle. Dark Sector was always 3PS and looked more promising at the time. Sony thought Gears would be just another Unreal or Resistance type game and they didn't probably want competition on their own console so they could sell Resistance one.

No one really expected Gears to do as well as it did. Most people thought it was going to do as well as Unreal Championship 2 did and it basically flopped on Xbox and severely flopped on PS2.

Gears of War was also shopped around as a multiplatform game but Sony said it wasn't the kind of game they wanted to showcase the PS3, but Microsoft jumped on it and offered to pay for development and publishing.
